Come Sail Away!

What's a Happening Now...

It is the first week of May and things are heating up around the Lowcountry both on and off the water. For many of our high school sailors the season is coming to an end, however this weekend Wando High School will head to Annapolis, MD to compete in the ISSA Mallory Championship.  The Mallory Trophy, dedicated in 1930, will determine the best in double handed fleet racing among the 7 Districts represented by 20 schools across the USA.  The event will take place out of the US Naval Academy and the team will include seniors Rebecca Bonner, Carter Cameron and Henry Frenzel, juniors Karen Gise and Hunter Moore, sophomore Austin Ando and freshman Caroline Main. Congratulations to the entire team and coaches Becky Bestoso and Ben Spector on a wonderful year.  Safe travels and sail fast Wando!

Don't miss the boat this Thursday as we host the Soiree on the Sea and cruise for a cause to raise funds for new safety boat engines. Tickets are still available and if you are unable to attend but want to contribute you can always make a tax-deductible donation online.

We believe that the confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills learned by participating in our programs should benefit ALL children, not just those who can afford access to the water. Financial Aid is available for summer sailing classes and we are always looking for volunteers for our outreach programs.  Here are some of the ways for you to get involved this May and we still have some availability in summer sailing classes. You are a part of our community, so contact us if you have an idea - we would LOVE to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission!

Cruise For A Cause

We are so fortunate to live in a city that we can be on the water year round. To provide this opportunity to people within our community and to insure our participants safety, our sheds, docks, and 40 boats need to be maintained & we all know boats NEED love. How can YOU help? Get your tickets online NOW for May 7th as proceeds will go towards purchasing two new engines before summer.  There will be a silent auction with some wonderful items from Marni Pictures, The Proper Knot, Garden & Gun, Zhik, Quantum Charleston AND live music from Bill Wilson and the Secret Ingredients.  We need your help and if your are unable to attend, please consider making an online donation.

This program will continue on Mondays through May and we NEED VOLUNTEERS.  Partner up with a student and show them the ropes while spending an afternoon on the water.  Sign up to volunteer NOW!

The SC Special Olympics Sailing Team is training for the Annual Lowcountry Regatta to be held out of James Island Yacht Club on June 5-7.  In July, Coach Meta and teammates Kylie MacFarland and Ellinor Walters will travel to the World Games in Los Angeles.  If you know of an athlete that would like to join the team and a strong swimmer - we would love to show you the ropes.  Learn more about the Special Olympics sailing program.
I'd Like to DONATE now!

In NEED of Engines & Boats:

Got a 16-22 ft. boat sitting in your yard that your not using? Please consider donating your boat or working engine which is easy, philanthropic and offers potential tax advantages. In return for the donation of your vessel, we will issue a receipt and you can relax knowing that we will use the boat or the proceeds of the sale - to make it possible for all to get on the water.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We need your HELP!  Volunteers can help with everything from boat maintenance, regattas (on or off the water), outreach programs, office/admin work, STEM Education, special events and special and more.  If any of this sounds interesting or is something you are passionate about—we hope you will consider volunteering with us.  You can sign up to volunteer online
