Set Sail This Fall

What's a Happening Now...

It is hard to believe it is Fall when the temperatures are still hot and humid. However school is in session and there continues to be a lot of activity at the sailing center between high school sailing, SUP classes, Saturday Sails and Women on the Water.

In the past two weeks nine local schools have started sailing after school as either a club or varsity sport.  Partnering with local yacht clubs and SAISA we will host several regattas and need volunteers to help on the water as a safety/mark boat drivers or with recording and scoring.  If you are interested in learning more about high school sailing and how these events are run, this is a great opportunity to get involved.  The 2015 events will be held on September 19, October 17/18 and November 7/8.

Don't forget there are still a variety of ways to get on the water or get involved as we move into Fall.  You are a part of our community, so contact us if you have an idea - we would LOVE to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued support of our mission!

What's SUP!

Our new SUP {Stand Up Paddleboard} program has launched with several class offerings for the Fall. The participants are having a great time on the water through a Fun, Fit & Yoga class and it is a wonderful way to start your day.  If you were unable to do a series but want to paddle, sign up for a SUP private lesson. This series will run through October and we will regroup in Spring 2016.  Stay tuned for offerings!

9th Annual Oyster Roast

We are counting down the days to our biggest fundraiser which will take place the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  Mark your calendars for November 22, 2015 for oysters, BBQ, drinks and just a plain good ole time.  Join the fun and support Charleston Community Sailing and our mission by becoming an event sponsor, donating items for the silent auction or by volunteering to help.  Learn more!

WoW {Women on the Water}

Launched the end of April and continuing through the Fall, WoW has been a success.  We are currently sailing on Monday, Wednesday and doing Friday fun sails.  Join us for a sail, feel confident on a sailboat and meet some wonderful women.  Check out the photos from this summer!

Come and learn the basics of sailing from US Sailing Certified Instructors and feel comfortable on the water.  The next class will be held on Friday, September 18: 6-8pm and Sunday, September 20: 10-1pm.  Sign up NOW

These fun sails are on select Saturdays and for anyone who has completed one of our programs. Feeling rusty?  Don't fret, our staff will be on site to help with instruction on land and on the water.  Register NOW!

Special Olympics Team

Our local team will continue to sail throughout the Fall with practices out of JIYC, CCS and CofC.  If you are interested in becoming a unified partner, volunteering to help on the water for practices or know of any athlete that would be interested in joining the team - we would love to hear from YOU!  This is a unique opportunity to share your passion with others get involved today.

In NEED of Engines & Boats:

Got a 16-22 ft. boat sitting in your yard that your not using? Please consider donating your boat or working engine which is easy, philanthropic and offers potential tax advantages. In return for the donation of your vessel, we will issue a receipt and you can relax knowing that we will use the boat or the proceeds of the sale - to make it possible for all to get on the water.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We need your HELP!  Volunteers can help with everything from boat maintenance, regattas (on or off the water), outreach programs, office/admin work, STEM Education, special events and special and more.  If any of this sounds interesting or is something you are passionate about—we hope you will consider volunteering with us.  You can sign up to volunteer online
