Hello to all North Harbour Ulyssians.  I am the new editor of our newsletter.  You'll all have to put up with me as I grow into this role as I've never done anything like this before so it's a bit of a learning curve. Thank you to Jeni for getting me started and giving some excellent tips and tricks.

I need your input to make this newsletter interesting and current so I'm keen to hear your stories and tales that are motorcycle related and in fact even those that are not motorcycle related but include our members.

Send your stories, pictures, comments and feedback to me by clicking this link NH Editor

Our Branch AGM was very successful although we went over last year’s record time, 12.5 minutes compared to 12 minutes last year. Lora Nankivell is now officially Branch Secretary and we have two new committee members, welcome to Barry Holland and Andy Kelly, I’m sure once Barry & Andy have settled in they will bring some new ideas to the table.
Your Branch Executive for 2016/17 is; Wayne Painter, President; Vaughan Nankivell, Vice President; Lora Nankivell, Secretary; Joy Zaloum, Treasurer;   Committee; Barry Holland, John Johnstone, Andy Kelly, Dave McAnulty & Rini van Driel.
Niki Morrison is our new Runs Coordinator,  Niki will be sending out a survey to find what sort of runs & rides you want, please reply so they can plan your rides calendar.
Dale Painter is Quartermaster and Peter Webb is Sheriff.   Craig McEwan takes over as newsletter editor from Jeni. Don’t forget! the newsletter is your news, if you don’t send items, ride reviews and photos etc there won’t be an interesting newsletter.    Send items to Editor
The new HONDA AFRICA TWINS were a popular display especially the Dual Clutch Tiptronic/Automatic model, check them out at CYCLESPOT HONDA.
KAWASAKI by SPECTRUM will be the display bikes for May Club Night.
TECHMOTO SPONSORSHIP   It was reported at the Branch AGM that the Techmoto Sponsorship account had not been paid for 2016, Phil Scott is very apologetic and told me the account had dropped through the cracks at the time he waiting for his heart valve repair and the fitting of a pacemaker. For the ensuing 4 or 5 months he was not well and forgot a few things. Phil has now paid the account up to date and is going to carry on the sponsorship through to June 2017.
Remember!!  We must support our sponsors so they can support us.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT SOCIAL DINNER   At our March club night members decided we needed a change for the Wednesday Night Dinner venue, we had been going to Mad Dogs for a long time.  Our new venue is the AFRICA BAR (the old Brickhouse), 1 William Pickering Drive, North Harbour, the Branch has been given a V.I.P. number for members to use and everyone attending will get a V.I.P. card which can be used at any time, this will give you a small discount on your drinks & meals when presented at the bar and a 3% bonus on purchases to the branch which we can use at a later date. If you want a card let me know. Phone or txt 027 289 1018.
MOTHER’S DAY POKER RUN:    We need more entries
Our Mother’s Day Poker Run will take a slightly different form this year using the KISS principle, date is Sunday March 8th.  We will assemble at the Pupuke Golf Club then John Heebink will take us on one of his interesting rides which will finish back at the Golf Club where we will have prize-giving, bar is open until 5.30pm.  Entry forms are on our website, at club-night or email  Wayne

Many of our members have joined the Golf Club as Social Members, it is not expensive and it is our way of repaying the hospitality and use of their clubrooms, it also means you don’t have to sign in when you come to clubnight or functions.  Get a membership form from the bar or myself, it will only cost $25.00 for a year.

Some pictures from the St Johns Ride
We had a great turn out for the St. John's Ambulance Ride. From Whangarei we went to the Bream Bay St. John's station in Ruakaka for a very nice lunch. Images from John Heebrink.
Cruising with Charlie Truell
Tuesdays Ride

Six of us on today's ride, including one from Ulysses Waikato who took a day off work to come for the ride. John Stephens took us to Cambridge via Okaeria, Taniwha, Te Hoe, Orini, and Eureka. Parking in the centre of Cambridge was a problem and I managed to take the group up a one-way street the wrong way in the process. We had lunch in the courtyard shared by Rouge Cafe and Cambridge Sushi. After lunch, three of us went to visit Trevor in Waikato Hospital and found he'd been transferred to Thames a couple of hours earlier, which is good news. Thanks to Sig Falkenhaug for being TEC.

Midweek Wednesday Rides and now Tuesday (check out NH Ulysses facebook page for details.)
Wednesdays Ride

Six of us on today's ride. Michael Davies led most of the way, but Ian Shiels, Harry Handley, and I led at various times. We went to Sandspit via Woodcocks Road, but just before Sandspit we turned off onto Brick Bay Road, and discovered a delightful little beach and nice views over the harbour. Sandspit cafe was closed, so we went on to Morris and James in Matakana for lunch.

Naturally we need to get a feel for the interest out there so we can plan accordingly.  So may I appeal to you all to send this out to all your members.
