Dear Members and Friends,

With the summer closing and autumn beckoning “IHE thoughts” turn to the 2016 IHE-Europe Connectathon, that sees North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany host the 16th European Connectathon at Bochum, in the RuhrCongress.

A strong organising committee from IHE-Germany with Alexander Ihls, Vendor Co-Chair, at the helm promises an outstanding event, so commit the dates to your diary – April 11-15, 2016.
The IHE Connectathon is an opportunity for all companies large and small, as well as other organisations, to test their products and solutions, across healthcare, eHealth and mHealth, along with those of
their peers.

Interoperability testing based on IHE Profiles is now seen as crucial following the recent decision by the European Commission announcing that “27 IHE Profiles are eligible for referencing in public procurements as technical specifications”.

  • Running concurrently with the Connectathon will be a number of international events, that will provide opportunities to learn about new developments in interoperability as well as successes from organisations and projects from the interoperability community.
  • Pivotal to this Connectathon is the engagement with the State Ministry of Health in North-Rhine Westphalia; comprehensive support will be available through its competence centre ZTG (Centre for Telematics and Telemedicine).
Public and private procurements specify compliance with IHE Profiles and expect recognition of this by Connectathon testing. There has never been a more important time to participate in the IHE-Europe Connectathon in Bochum, April 11-15, 2016.

Sincerely,
IHE-Europe Team
