About the Speaker
Shira Richter is the director of an award winning adventure film about women's and mother's voices regarding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, and the creator of acclaimed photography exhibitions and installations about the value and economic status of mothers, fathers and other careers in society. She is a visual performance lecturer, writer, curator and advocate for inclusion of gender studies in the formal educational system, changing the definition of postpartum depression, a supporter of moderate voices and context-based evaluation. Shira is visiting the States as an international guest of the group exhibition, “The Women & Money Project,” at the Katharine E. Nash Gallery of the University of Minnesota Department of Art, created together with Minnesota Women’s Caucus for Art. Her visit is partially funded by the Israeli consulate of Chicago.
