Since the launch of the 2016 GEM Report Education for people and planet: Creating sustainable futures for all in September, the GEM Report Team has been busy sharing the findings of the report with new and diverse audiences at a number of key events.

GEM Report reaching new audiences

This week the GEM Report was at COP22 to launch PLANET: Education for environmental sustainability and green growth. The GEM Report made the keynote presentation at the high-level event during Education Day. Read our blog about the role of education within climate change response.

Last week the GEM Report took part in the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) inaugural symposium: The Possibility and Desirability of Global Learning Metrics: Comparative Perspectives on Education Research, Policy and Practice. In the lead up to the CIES event the GEM Report published two blogs looking at the challenges around building comparable learning measures. The blogs look at the challenge of comparing learning across diverse systems; and how to reach a consensus on reporting learning globally.
In October the GEM Report team attended Habitat III in Quito, Ecuador to launch PLACE: Inclusive and sustainable cities. Our presentation focused on how city leaders can use education for more than just growing their economy.

Keep your eyes out for our next Policy Paper due out on December 10, 2016. The paper looks at the content of textbooks and how adequately textbooks reflect the key concepts included in target 4.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The GEM Report is searching for a new Director. Please share the vacancy announcement through your networks.
