Designing Western Sydney

Deloitte has revealed its blueprint for the economic transformation of Western Sydney. The document - launched by Premier Mike Baird on 8 December - outlines seven broad initiatives that can create 200,000 new jobs in the region by 2020.

"As recognised by this blueprint, the diversity of Western Sydney's people remains a key strength. The young and diverse population is gravitating to science, technology, engineering and maths - or STEM qualifications.  It is encouraging to see that this blueprint puts in place strategies to leverage this critical resource for NSW's future prosperity," Premier Baird said.

"We welcome this blueprint because in a large part it confirms that Penrith Council is on the right track in relentlessly pushing for more jobs in the city. The blueprint agrees with New West that the most potential for jobs in our city arises out of the industries in which we already have real strength such as health, education, advanced manufacturing, tourism and cultural industries. While the cities of Western Sydney represent the future of Sydney the great opportunity comes from joining up our region so that people can move quickly and seamlessly between these cities." - Penrith Council Assistant General Manager Craig Butler

Celebrating our New West campaign

We have been overwhelmed by incredible coverage of our New West campaign - including the launch of our Invitation to Partner and release of the Expression of Interest for two City Centre sites. As the Western Weekender's front page article stated on 11 December "Penrith's time has come". We could not have said it better ourselves!
From other local media we have seen headlines: "We welcome development" (Penrith Press, 8 December), "Progression's next phase" (Penrith City Gazette, 3 December) and "Our very own Central Park" (Penrith Press, 10 December).
We celebrate this endorsement of our vision for the City Centre.

Planning proposal for City Park - Penrith’s City Park, an urban oasis possibly surrounded by compact housing and specialist retail opportunities, is a step closer after Council endorsed a planning proposal earlier this month. An Expression Of Interest will be sought in early 2016 for the delivery of the City Park and an adjoining mixed-use development.

The New West team wishes you and yours a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
We look forward to bringing you more exciting New West developments in 2016.
