Circ MedTech Donates Three Mobile Clinics
for HIV Prevention Services in Zimbabwe
Following the launch of its national Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) Strategic Plan in January 2015 (see video), Zimbabwe continues to implement its ambitious plan of reaching 1.3 Million male circumcisions. To support the country’s national efforts in implementing the VMMC program, Circ MedTech Ltd. has donated three mobile clinics that will provide male circumcision services with PrePex, including HIV testing and counseling.

The donation came after the PrePex device was recognized by judges of the Tech Awards as being a technology that benefits humanity. They honored the company with a Laureate award, together with a 50,000 USD prize. At the Tech Awards Gala event held in November 2015, Eddy Horowitz (Circ MedTech Ltd. CEO) announced that his company would be donating the prize money to HIV prevention programs in Sub-Saharan Africa (See video).
Soon after this, the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care expressed its will to deploy Mobile Clinics as part of the Zimbabwe VMMC program, through outreach campaigns.  Later, this saw three caravans (supplied by Circ MedTech) being delivered to Zimbabwe.
In collaboration with the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care, a festive handover ceremony took place - in the presence of Dr. David PARIRENYATWA (Honorable Minister of Health and Child Care) and Mr. Eddy HOROWITZ (CEO, Circ MedTech Ltd.).
In his speech, Mr. Horowitz said:
"Over the last year, we have looked for ideas that we felt would make the biggest impact on ground. And so the mobile clinics model came to mind, based on the success shown in other countries implementing PrePex as part of their VMMC services. A mobile clinic is a sustainable and cost-effective tool that enables the healthcare system to reach men in remote areas — quickly and efficiently.
And so, as a token of our appreciation to the Zimbabwe national effort, and to the growing partnership between Circ MedTech and the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health, we have decided to contribute three caravans that will serve as Mobile Clinics, offering PrePex and other HIV prevention services to populations in the rural areas of Zimbabwe."
Holding the PrePex device in his hand, Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr. Parirenyatwa said:
"I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer and the entire Circ MedTech team for this invaluable donation to the National Circumcision program through these three state-of-the-art caravans. These caravans will increase the outreach activities to the different provinces where they will be sent.
Let’s continue to strive for excellence in all the activities we are doing so that, by 2030, we can all reflect and be proud that we made a difference in our time and turned the tide of the HIV epidemic in this country.
I leave you with three strategies that everyone should not lose sight of - and these are: Prevention, Prevention, Prevention! "
