Albany Primary School Sprint Event 22nd November

Albany’s second orienteering event was held on Saturday afternoon on the new Albany Primary School/Senior High School map.

A small but enthusiastic crowd came along to explore the multi-level maze of buildings. The younger kids enjoyed what Ebony Davidson described as “the best string course yet” and a variety of families, groups and individuals enjoyed a walk or run around the 2.6km orienteering course.

Some close contests are starting to appear between the new club members: Jane Davidson came in only seconds in front of her father Ray Toomey, and the gap is closing fast between ironman triathlete Meeghan Clay and ex-mountain biker Jen Graham-Taylor.

Results this week: Jane Davidson in third, just behind Meeghan Clay in second and Jen Graham-Taylor in first.

Next event: Camp Quaranup 6/12/14

The next ADHOC event will be a more traditional bush orienteering event on the new map of Camp Quaranup and the neighbouring Point Possession. As usual, all ages and abilities will be catered for.

There will be a string course for 2-6 year olds. An easy course set entirely on tracks will be available as well as a slightly more challenging course which will give you the opportunity to venture off tracks.
