studentDo You Remember Your First Year at Guild School?

Excitement? Awe? Feeling lucky to have managed to pay for school and actually, physically get there? Confused? Anxious? Wondering if you'll meet a friend? Consider ways to welcome our first year students. You'll know who they are by the balloon sticker on their name tag. Help them out in class. Motion them over to sit with you at meals. Walk to class together. Chat at break time. Introduce yourself at school activities. Offer to meet in the Bilge (basement of Curtis) for nightly gatherings. Acknowledge the conflicting tension - we all know how enriching it can be to expand our circle of acquaintances and how a new student may be ever so grateful for a little bit of attention and compassion AND many of us have been coming to school for many years and want to spend precious time with those with whom we have formed close, comfortable friendships. The challenge is to accomplish both.

auction itemSomething New: Real Estate Row Auction

Dee Empey is a California collector and former Guild School student. She has donated her extensive collection to school and to IGMA. You'll see lots of her pieces at our various auctions. She has given us several structures - some finished; some a work in progress; most with instructions and photos; and some including handpicked accessories . We are putting all these together to form a "real estate row" in an open bid auction style, running for several days in the dining hall area.

We're experimenting with a couple of new administrative processes for seminars. First, in an effort to be more equitable geographically and considering USPS functionality, seminar assignments will be done through a lottery drawing. Second, seminar class lists will be posted on the website by the 3rd week in April, giving you a heads-up on any supplies you may need. Click on the Seminar List on the Guild School page

IggyIggy is On the Road Again!

Thanks to our kind and efficient volunteers, we will once again have Iggy, our golf cart, to transport students who are mobility challenged. Sign up in the school office for rides once you check-in and know where your classes are being held. If you are bringing a guest, perhaps s/he would like to be an Iggy Driver and wear a great ball cap! Let us know.
