Eagle River High School
October 2021

 PRINCIPAL
TIM HELVEY

Given that we have not been to school face to face for nearly a year, I have to say how happy I am to see students again.  The overall enthusiasm and spirit at Eagle River is high which has helped start off a good school year.  We saw changes to our usual homecoming, with Covid numbers high, we cancelled the traditional homecoming dance and held an after game tailgate.  Food and games were enjoyed by all! Student Government did a great job of planning this event with very little time to prepare. I would also like to thank Jalapenos and China Lights for supporting this event. Our football team won the game and is off to a great season.

PEAKS test scores were released and ERHS received the highest scores in the district at the high school level. After a year of online school this is proof that our students and teachers have grit! Congratulations to Catherine Shutt and Matthew Agron, who received notification of being semi-finalists as National Merit Scholars. Our yearly  AP Scholar Shield listing ERHS 2021 AP scholars will be displayed in the Commons soon.  I would like thank all of our teachers, coaches, volunteers, students, and parents who make ERHS a place easy to brag about every day.  We have been successful in both the classroom and on the field, and this requires the best possible people.  Eagle River High School definitely has that covered.

We are quickly wrapping up the 1st academic quarter of the year.  Quarter grades will be viewable in Parent Connect on Tuesday, October 19th, just prior to high school Fall Conferences which take place on Wednesday, October 20th.  Fall Conferences provide a great opportunity to sit down one-on-one with each of your student’s teachers to ask how you can best support your student’s learning in that class.  Students are using Chromebooks every day in classrooms and while this has helped support online learning, please see the new regulations for the use and care of ASD Chromebooks.

Dates to remember are listed to the right of this letter. October and November continue to be busy at ERHS with music performances, Conferences, the Fall Carnival, and Talent Show. I hope to see you at some of these events.
