Happy holidays!  David and I would like to give a big thank you to those of you that joined us for the Kirtan at Yoga Public at the beginning of the month.  It was a joy to come together around music and mantra!  Here is a little bit of Kirtan that we recorded last week; we hope it gets you into the festive spirit.
Hope to see you at some of these events in the new year!

One of my yoga students, Bahram Moterassed, has an established psychotherapy practice that combines Western and Eastern techniques.  Last spring he asked me to lead a Kirtan for him and his meditation students, and we are doing another to start off 2015!  Of course, anybody is welcome to join us.  It will be on January 9th, 2015, 6-8 pm, at 3-1200 Portage Ave (in the Meditation Services building), Winnipeg ($10 suggested donation).

To contact Bahram, please email him at contact(at)maykadeh(dot)org.  Hope to see you there!

A Day of Silent Practice with Jonathan Austman
My yoga teacher Jonathan will be leading a day of silent meditation and yoga on Sunday January 18th, 7:30am-5:00pm at the Aboriginal Learning Centre (F209-2055 Notre Dame Ave, Red River College).  To support you in your practice, there will be a deliciously Ayurvedic and vegetarian lunch will be made by moi!  Spaces are filling up quickly, so if you are interested please email Susan Claire (scjohnson43(at)yahoo(dot)com) to reserve your spot!  ($80 investment includes lunch).
Om nom nom!
Save Saturday, February 7th (10am-1pm) in your calendar!  Prairie Yogi Magazine and I will be teaming up for a morning of yoga and Ayurveda in an event called OmNomNourish.  Winter can be a tough season to get through, so we will start with a rejuvenating, calming practice, and then talk about how we can apply Ayurveda to our diet and lifestyle choices, so we can take better care of ourselves through the cold months.  Yummy treats (made by me!) and tea will be provided.  Bring a yoga mat and your favourite blankie!  Tickets will be available through the Prairie Yogi website soon, so stay tuned.
With the holiday season upon us, I hope you find time to enjoy it with those you cherish most, and share delicious food with them!  I really appreciate all of your support this past year, and I am grateful for a community to share this journey with.  I'm looking forward to the opportunity for a fresh start in 2015, and I hope I can spend some part of it practising and learning with you!

All the best,

"By cultivating an attitude of friendship toward those who are happy, compassion toward those in distress, joy toward those who are virtuous, and equanimity toward those who are nonvirtuous, lucidity arises in the mind."
