Stay and Play - Register now!

Register now for our 3rd annual Stay and Play on Wednesday, October 21st at Crawford Plains School.  Note that it will run from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

This year we will be playing our ukuleles!  We will look at a few Orff inspired ways to teach our beginner ukulele students.  There will be single-note reading, strumming, and singing simple songs and holiday numbers too!

Don't forget to bring your uke!
Don't have one? No problem!
Crawford Plains can provide ukuleles, if needed.

How long have you been
on the Board?
Two years

What do you do on the Board?
I am the secretary.

What is one of your favourite ideas you gained from an Orff workshop?
I always enjoy finding ways to use literature with music. So often our students come to school not having been read to and not enjoying literature. By connecting it with music, books can really come alive and students can explore and create new music!

Do you have any favourite resources/books from our library?
Anything by Randy and Jeff. Lost treasures are books by Keith Bissell, a former Edmonton music teacher and consultant.

What do you say when asked
what "Orff" is?
Orff is a pedagogy for teaching music...It is also what a seal says.

If you were an instrument, what would you be and why?
I would love to be a cello since it can be such a mellow instrument with beautiful tone, but more likely I am a cowbell since I enjoy a good party!
