Welcome on board!

Dear readers,

UITP and the whole ZeEUS Consortium are pleased to welcome you to the first newsletter of ZeEUS - a project that will shape the future and change the way bus public transport looks and feels like. Together, we are entering a new and exciting era of the electromobility sector: being a part of it, ZeEUS will play a key role as the flagship electric bus demonstration project in Europe.

We believe that ZeEUS will have a lasting legacy and will bring electrification to the heart of the urban bus network.

You can also get involved!
If your city is going to test or introduce electric buses in its network, do not hesitate to apply to the Call for the ZeEUS “Observed Demonstrations”, that has recently been opened!

The core demonstrations of the project are about to start! Are you in?
All demonstrations are in different process stages ranging from completing procurement actions of electric buses to the testing and installation of charging infrastructure.

Are you from Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy or you happen to pass by these countries in the near future?

Then you might have the opportunity to go on a different journey!

Stay tuned! The ZeEUS selected buses will offer a new experience and will be available for the first live demonstrations in:

ZeEUS starts the demonstrations activities with Barcelona, Spain! The first zero emission bus of the ZeEUS project has already entered into service and is running on the line 20.

The Barcelona Demo will run four full electric buses, two of which will be 12m and two 18m, along line 20 in T14, within the new core city network that has been implanted by TMB since 2012.
The second ZeEUS Demonstration will take place in Stockholm, Sweden!

Stockholm will showcase their Volvo 12m plug-in hybrid buses to local politicians, city officials and local stakeholders on the 23rd of October, in advance of the demo launch date later this year, in December.

Call for Observed Demonstrations
Apply until 31st October 2014 to become an Observed Demonstration

Alongside the development of the core demonstrations UITP, through the ZeEUS project, is also establishing an Electric Bus Observatory which will closely follow electric bus sector across the globe and publish all collected information and data in the annual ZeEUS Electric Bus Brochure.

National Rapporteurs for key countries worldwide are currently being identified and the Call for Observed Demonstrations is now open giving other European electric bus demonstrations and pilots the chance to participate in ZeEUS. This activity will help provide the entire stakeholder spectrum with the global picture of the worldwide electric bus market.

Preparing an effective electromobility system in Europe

2nd European Electromobility Stakeholder Forum

The second European Eletromobility Stakeholder Forum took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 4-5 June 2014, gathering together 150 European electromobility experts and representatives from industry, regional, national and European public authorities, transport agencies, utilities, research institutes and academia.

Under the auspices of Europe’s three flagship electromobility
projects, Green eMotion, FREVUE and ZeEUS, the participants addressed and discussed the challenges, obstacles and opportunities to delivering an effective electromobility system in Europe.

“The European Commission welcomes the alliance between the three projects leading to the Electromobility Forum.”
Magda Kopczynska, Director - Innovative & Sustainable Mobility, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, European Commission
