FINANCIAL INCLUSION AND REMITTANCES - AN UNTAPPED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIY
Innovation in payment industry, including mobile money, plays a major in advancing a financial inclusion agenda and contributes towards the development of digital economy. DE-RISKING IN MONEY SERVICES BUSINESS
The capacity of individual countries and players in the money services business industry to demonstrate their ability to meet global regulatory standards is paramount to improve the de-risking phenomenon and promote partnerships more broadly.
In some Asia-Pacific markets, especially small island nations in the Pacific, de-risking is particularly acute.  Many new FinTech  and existing money transfer companies in the region are still suffering from the negative consequences of de-risking, despite various initiatives being undertaken at national and international levels.  Read more about de-risking and its consequences in this BBVA ASEAN report.

BLOCK-CHAIN AND REMITTANCES: THE NEW MARKET STRATEGIES WITHIN REACH?
Blockchain technology has gained increasing attention in recent years although it still retains a degree of skepticism. Blockchain has the potential to address fundamental problems in the remittance value chain, including the transmission of consumer data, settlement between operators, etc.

How are regulators positioning themselves to address this new trend? What solutions could blockchain bring to the remittance marketplace? Read more about the workshop offerings on the GFRID 2018 Agenda.
