Dear Equestrian Friends,
The Bay Area Barns and Trails (BABT) Board shares our latest news and extends fond greetings for the coming year. We invite you to join us in making 2015 active and filled with opportunity for equestrians.
2014 was a banner year for BABT, during which we recommitted to serving the 9 Bay Area counties as a strong, non-profit advocate for public access to equestrian facilities and trails.
As an organization, we solidified our Board of Directors into a committed and productive team, and re-established our grant program, dormant since 2011. In 2014 we reviewed, researched and awarded a total of $25,000 to assist eight important stable and trail projects in five counties.
Our 2014 Grants aided several types of projects around the bay. In the North Bay we helped finance a water delivery system to a pasture bordering public lands, arena improvements to a publicly owned stable and environmental protection projects at a Golden Gate National Recreation Area stable. In the East Bay we funded educational outreach and participation grants for the East Bay Hills Trails Benefit Ride and trail staging area improvements in San Ramon. In Santa Clara County we helped finance a new water trough on the Bay Area Ridge Trail, and an environmental site plan for a stable. In San Mateo County we helped renovate a key equestrian bridge on a trail in the Crystal Springs trail system.
