At New York Cares, we believe there’s more than one way to give voice to issues you care about. Some march, some post, some volunteer. But civic engagement isn’t an either/or. It’s about taking a holistic approach to change.

Which is why during National Volunteer Week, we are spreading a city-wide message of taking action on causes you care about. Join us as we further this message and bring new volunteers into our community!

Show your volunteer pride by sharing photos and stories from your service (especially projects you attend this week) using the hashtag #NVW. Don’t forget to tag us in your posts and stories!

Tag Your Friends 


Share a NVW graphic and tag up to five friends (or family members, coworkers, etc.) who you’d like to see join you on your next volunteer project. Tag New York Cares and use the hashtags #NVW and #LetsTakeThisOffline. Check out our social media toolkit for sample posts.

Celebrate Service

There’s no wrong time to get out on a project, but during National Volunteer Week you’ll be joining thousands of volunteers nationwide in celebrating the power of service. This week alone New York Cares has hundreds of projects across all five boroughs. Find the right project for you!
