NTSA: Chill with BMA & Speak Your Mind!

Join BMA at Rueben's Burger Bistro for staging people who are speaking in behalf of mountain bikers and the adoption of the North Sky Trail on Tuesday June 7th.

BMA will provide a free beer or soda to all speakers (or those giving their time to others) and appetizers as we await our time to speak and the eventually outcome. Hopefully it's a party afterwards!

Sign-up to speak starting at 5PM and then mosey on over to Rueben’s where you can enjoy a beer, some great food and watch the proceedings on TV. When you’re in the queue to speak, you can venture over, say your piece and return to watch the drama unfold.

Volunteer for UAR and Earn $5000 for BMA!

Love Bikes, Beer,….and Big Wheels? Of course you do. BMA is so excited to be the beneficiary of the Keen Urban Assault Ride in Boulder on Sunday June 19th. The UAR sends you and your partner on a citywide adventure to checkpoints around town where you do crazy obstacles at each stop. Once you make it around the course, there’s a huge party at Upslope Brewing. Sign up here to volunteer and earn hard cash for BMA.

2016 BMA Brute Squad

The 30 members of the BMA Brute Squad are into their 9th week of training in preparation for their 32, 68, or 100 mile target races in Breckenridge in July.  As part of the training, the Brute Squad sent six 4-person teams to Fruita for the 18 Hours of Fruita race last month.  At that race, Brute Squad athletes rode more than 1100 miles combined in just 18 hours, and placed two teams on the podium!  This weekend, the Brute Squad will send 18 athletes to Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch to represent the BMA at PV Derby, in races of 17, 34, and 51 miles.  Go Brutes!

Heil 2 Loop Trail System Approved

Boulder County commissioners approved the proposed locations of future recreational trails on a 210-acre portion of the county's Heil Valley Open Space north of Boulder. The latest trail system alignments recommended by the Parks and Open Space Department staff would include a multi-use trail loop on the west side of Geer Canyon Drive.

An earlier version of the plan would instead have put a single, two-way out-and-back path through that westside corridor — one in which hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians would encountered people walking or riding in the other direction. BMA advocated for the loop trail after a intense campaign to garner community input. BCPOS received over 200 online comments and 30 public comments.

The latest Heil 2 plan also includes a shorter loop trail on the south section of the property, something the Mountainbike Alliance had advocated as a "beginner's trail" for less-experienced mountain cyclists and children in families visiting the county-owned open space property.

Steve Watts, the Mountainbike Alliance's executive director, told commissioners Tuesday that the result will be "a cultural and recreational gem" in the county's open space holdings.

"I think this is a big win for the community," Watts said.

BMA House Party a Success

BMA deemed the inaugural BMA House Party featuring American cycling legend Andy Hampsten very successful. We had a great turn out of folks from the road and mountain biking communities to benefit both BMA and Cyclists 4 Community. We raised $5000 for BMA ($2500 from the event + $2500 from a donor match) and $639 for C4C.

BMA acknowledges our great partners ‪Real Athlete Diets,‬ Boulder Beer‬ and ‪Barking at Dogs‬. RAD provided stellar food, very delicious and of course Boulder Beer rocks! Thanks to the band, you guys really rocked!

Thank you everyone who attended!
