OAS  to host ILO 100th Anniversary Celebration 
On November 19th, the ILO Centenary Celebration will be held in the OAS Main Building, the same venue that hosted the First International Labor Conference in October and November 1919.  The first ILO Conventions on working hours, maternity protection, and night work, among others, were approved during that Conference. 
The Commemoration will be co-hosted by the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, and the ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, and will have the participation of special guests such as the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Eugene Scalia, the Barbados Minister of Labour, Colin Jordan, as Chair of the IACML, and Ambassadors, among others.

Argentina and El Salvador will exchange experiences on conflict resolution 
Starting today and up to November 15th, a delegation of experts from the Ministry of Production and Labor of Argentina will provide technical assistance on conflict resolution to its peers in El Salvador. The exchange will focus specifically on the Labor Conciliation Obligatory Service (SECLO, in Spanish) of Argentina, and will incorporate a training session to Salvadorian workers’ representatives.  
This activity is the 7th that takes place this year within the 12th RIAL Call for Bilateral Cooperation.

100 years of the ILO Convention on Maternity Protection 

November 8th marked the 100th Anniversary of ILO Convention 003 on Maternity Protection. This International Labor Standard was the first that recognized the right of employment protection and paid maternity leave for matters related to childbirth. Equally, it was the first convention focused on gender equality.
