Next November will be 100 years since the First International Labour Conference took place at the building of the Pan-American Union (today the Main Building of the Organization of American States). This Conference did not only witness the birth of the ILO, but was, in a world that had just taken the first steps towards recovering from the horrors of World War I, the first meeting of an International Organization. It was followed by the first meeting of the League of Nations, held in Paris in January, 1920.
To commemorate this important date, celebrate 100 years of progress and, most importantly, reinforce the commitment of looking into the future together, next November 19th the ILO and OAS will host a high-level event under the theme “Creating a better Future of Work, together”, which will include the participation of the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, and the ILO Director General, Guy Ryder, as well as other special guests.
