President's Message
The IAP2 Executive takes a break over the summer to spend time with family and friends. We all enjoy the opportunity to recharge, relax and unwind through the lazy days of summer.
Now with fall around the corner your Executive is starting to plan events such as the popular informal P2 Drinks scheduled for Wednesday, September 21st in Vancouver at the Devil’s Elbow. Events are also being planned for Vancouver Island so please check out the IAP2 BC website for the latest updates. If you are one of our many new members P2 Drinks are a great opportunity to meet other P2 practitioners and discuss emerging trends throughout the province.
As we launch into the fall we hope you will take a few minutes to provide some input for the BC Chapter on Public Participation in BC. The input will be shared through a presentation at the National IAP2 Conference in Montreal September 29 and 30.
IAP2 BC is part of a cross Canada network of Chapters. As your president I participate in a monthly teleconference to share learning with other Chapters and contribute BC’s voice to IAP2 Canada planning. If there are ideas or concerns you have we want to hear about them to improve public engagement practice.
Do you know someone that has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advancing IAP2 Core Values and/or has made valuable contributions to IAP2? Please take a moment to nominate a colleague for the Donald Golob Award.
Mark your calendar for the IAP2 BC Annual General Meeting! It is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16th, 2016. This year at the AGM as always there will be an interesting speaker, a quick and efficient business meeting, followed by a fun social. If this is the year you have decided to give back to your profession then we would be pleased to welcome you as a director. Please email me and I will provide you with more information on the process.
Best regards,
Catherine Rockandel
