ETF Annual General Meeting

Event Postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances, ETF's Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was scheduled to take place on Friday 14th June 2019 in the BMC Club has had to be postponed.  The AGM will be rescheduled at a later date and we will advise of the arrangements.  ETF would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued support.

UK Volunteer Week 2019

Time to celebrate

Volunteers Week is a national celebration of volunteering and a time to say thank you for the amazing contribution volunteers make.  The week runs from Saturday 1st June 2019 to Sunday 7th June 2019 and this year the theme is 'time to celebrate'.  During the week hundreds of events and celebrations will be taking place, saying thank you to volunteers and recognising their invaluable contributions across the country.  You can find out more about Volunteer Week by clicking here.

The Lord Provost Frank Ross will honour some of the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy and commitment to the people of Edinburgh at a special awards ceremony on Wednesday 5th June 2019, 7.00pm, City Chambers Royal Mile.  Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and thank you to all our volunteers who give so much of their time to ETF.

The Edinburgh Partnership

Neighbourhood Networks

Since last year, the Edinburgh Partnership has been looking at ways to become more open and transparent.  Earlier this year, the Partnership agreed a new structure which will include setting up Neighbourhood Networks.  The Networks will identify priorities and outcomes for their areas with this informing what the Edinburgh Partnership Board and the groups in the new structure will do.  Members of the Network will include:
  • Registered Tenant Organisations;
  • Community Councils;
  • Parent Councils;
  • Other voluntary groups.
The final make-up of the membership will be for each Network to decide.  To find out more, please use the details below:

Dementia Awareness Week

Monday 3rd June - Sunday 9th June 2019

This week is Dementia Awareness Week here in Scotland.  Over 90,000 are living with dementia here in Scotland.  This year Scotland's Dementia Awareness Week focusses on spreading the word about two very important areas:
  • Dementia research;
  • Local support for people living with dementia.

Do you know of a project, individual or group that is helping to make a difference in a community? If, you do then why not apply to the Travis Perkins 'My Community Awards?' There are a number of categories including:

Strengthening Fire Safety for High Rise Domestic Buildings
Are you concerned about fire safety in high rise buildings?  As a result of the Grenfell Tower fire in London nearly two years ago, the Scottish Government has launched a consultation on fire safety for high rise domestic buildings.  The consultation will look at specifically how to simplify the guidance available to everyone who lives in high rise flats or is responsible for fire safety in high rise flats.

Tenants' Voice: call for articles 
Is your tenants' group involved in an exciting piece of work, would you like to share an example of good practice or are you proud of an initiative in your area? If you answered yes to any of the above, we would love to hear from you.

We are currently looking for articles for our forthcoming Tenants Voice.  The deadline for articles for the next issue is Monday 29th July 2019, so if there's anything you'd like to say, please speak up!  Articles and letters for publication should be sent to the Federation Office at Norton Park, 57 Albion Road, Edinburgh, EH7 5QY, or emailed by clicking here.  Alternatively give the Federation Office a call on 0131 475 2509 if you'd like help to pull an article together.
