Federation Meeting

City of Edinburgh Council Community Safety Strategy

Community safety and ensuring that residents feel safe is a major issue here in Edinburgh.  This will be the topic at our next Federation Meeting which will take place on Wednesday 5th February, 2.00pm-4.00pm, Norton Park Conference Centre, 57 Albion Road.  The guest speaker will be Rachael Craik, Community Justice Development Officer, City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) who will be speaking about CEC's forthcoming Community Safety Strategy.  Members will also have the chance to discuss what ETF has done over the past few months as we talk about our quarterly Progress Report.

Rents

Tenants' Key Messages

ETF will shortly be making plans to present a deputation to Councillors concerning tenants' rents for the coming year.  If you have any key messages that you would like ETF to present to elected members or would like to be involved in the deputation, please contact ETF's Development Mark Henry by emailing here or phone 0131 475 2509. 

ETF representatives will be outside the City Chambers on Thursday 20th February 2020 at 9.00am putting their message across.  We hope to see as many tenants as possible there.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Mark Henry.

Housing to 2040

A Consultation

What should housing and communities be like in 2040? This is a topic that Scottish Government is currently consulting on and ETF would like to encourage as many tenants as possible to contribute their thoughts.  ETF will be holding a workshop on Thursday 13th February 2019, 1.00pm-4.00pm, Norton Park Conference Centre, 57 Albion Road.  Please use public transport where possible.  Assistance with transport and childcare may be available on request.  To attend, please book your place online by clicking here, email by clicking here or phone 0131 475 2509.

ETF Repairs Group Meeting

CEC Housing Service Improvement Plan

The work of CEC's Housing Service Improvement Plan will be the topic at our next ETF Repairs Group Meeting.  Carol Reid, Operations Manager, CEC and Robyn Barrie, Programme Manager, Housing Service Improvement Plan will be in attendance on Wednesday 19th February 2020, 2.00pm-4.00pm, Norton Park Conference Centre, 57 Albion Road.  There will also be an opportunity to give an update on what is happening in your area.

Welcome to Aadam
ETF is delighted to welcome Aadam Hussain to work with us.  Aadam joins us through the Community Jobs Scotland Scheme and will be here for one year.  Aadam has already settled in well with us at ETF and he commented, "It's an honour for me to be working here at ETF.  I will mostly be assisting with team duties, where I hope to learn new skills and build myself up within the organisation.  I strive to excel throughout my placement with ETF and I very much look forward to meeting with you at some point."

Tenants Voice: Call for articles
Is your tenants' group proud of an initiative that is taking place in your area or would you simply like to share an example of good practice?  If so we would love to hear from you.  The deadline for articles for our next edition is Monday 24th February 2020, so if there's anything you would like to mention, please speak up!  Articles should be emailed here.  Alternatively give the Federation office a call on 0131 475 2509 if you would like help to pull an article together.

ETF High Flats Meeting
Would you like to find out more about the installation of blue lights in bin chute rooms in multi-storey blocks in Edinburgh?  This will be the topic at our next ETF High Flats Meeting, which will take place on Monday 2nd March 2020, 7.00pm-9.00pm, Birnies Court Community Room.  Tam Meaney, Operations Manager, Housing Property, CEC will be in attendance to speak about the initiative.  Representatives from City Fibre will be in attendance to speak about some of the work they are currently involved in, particularly ways to increase access to digital technology in tenants' homes.  There will also be an opportunity to give an update on what is happening in your area.
