The Tracker

Eagle River High School
August 2019

Greetings! I hope this edition of the Tracker finds you still enjoying the more relaxed rhythms of summer and experiencing the many adventures Alaska has to offer.  The 2019-20 school year is just over the horizon and in this special back-to-school edition we’ve gathered all the information you’ll need to get your student registered and ready for school.

Don’t forget to register your child for 19/20 school year…
Register online from the comfort of your home through ParentConnection:  HERE

Please contact our office at 742-2740 if you have questions or if you need assistance accessing your Parentconnection account. Student schedules will be available online in ParentConnection and StudentConnection on August 5, 2019.
Do I still need to come to in-person registration if I’ve completed online registration?
We will still host face-to-face registration August 6th and 7th.  Families who have registered online are not required to come, or can come and bypass the registration process and move through the remaining stations to complete the following:
Obtain locker information
Sign up for fall sports
Check in with the school nurse
Purchase: Yearbook, parking permit, and/or activity sticker
Registration Dates/Times
August 6, 8-11am/12-3pm
August 7, 8-11am/12-3pm

I am pleased to be returning as the Activities Assistant Principal here at ERHS! As an educator, I bring 32 years of experience, including 19 as an administrator at Dimond, West, Chugiak and Service High Schools, with the past 10 here at ERHS. Originally from Washington State, I have spent half my life in the South Pacific and the other half in Alaska. With a B.S. in Animal Sciences, a M.Ed. in Administration, current work on a D.Ed. in Leadership, and a 10-year resident of Eagle River, I feel I have much to offer and gain by being here at ERHS.  I am deeply committed to promoting positive interactions between students and adults, and improving student academic performance, behavior and accountability. I am looking forward to meeting everyone this school year!

Curriculum/Student Services

The energy level is returning to Eagle River High School as another summer, actually a really warm summer, comes to a close and our student athletes return to the building for the first sports seasons. On my first day of work the rain was pouring down outside, thus it must be the beginning of August and time for school to begin.

The academic focus at Eagle River High School will continue as we work to individually connect with each student to instill rigor in all classrooms. Over the summer the administration attended an Advanced Placement conference in Orlando along with 30 district leaders. Our Advanced Placement teachers are training in early August and all of our classrooms will continue to implement best practices while pushing students academically and providing them with structure and support so they can find success in their post high school years.

In the world of student services, Eagle River High School will continue to work with students and families to provide a safe and respectful climate where all students can find educational success. The themes of tolerance, inclusion and support are fundamental beliefs that make this school a wonderful place to work and a special place for our students.

If you have any questions or concerns as we move through the school year feel free to give me a call, send an email my direction or stop by the curriculum office.
