200 Health Achievements - Celebrating our past and looking toward the future
Throughout 2018, the Faculty of Health Professions will be highlighting 200 health achievements from our Faculty’s rich history of teaching, scholarship and service. We invite submissions from all members of the Health Professions community.

Supporting wounded soldiers through sport
On March 6, 2017, the Faculty of Health Professions welcomed a panel exploring the unique opportunity the Invictus Games provide to support soldiers and their families -  and to enable research on the impact of adaptive sports.

Building a better world - Rose Mlay
Rose Mlay (BScN’91, MN’98) is working to make childbirth safer for the women and children of Tanzania. She is National Coordinator of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood Tanzania.
 
Innovation takes time, patience and collaboration. Just ask Dr. Ingrid Sketris from Dalhousie’s College of Pharmacy who participated in a series of studies over ten years involving a team of researchers and student trainees from diverse academic backgrounds. Their aim? Changing the way children with a wheezy illness are treated in the emergency department at the IWK.
 
Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Philpott, recently traveled across Canada to learn about innovations in mental health. One of these innovations, the Bloom Program, is a mental health and addictions community partnership that's the only one of its kind in the world.
 
Health Promotion student Nicole Doria is a recipient of a 2017 Dalhousie Governors’ Award, the university’s top honour in student life, recognizing her exceptional contributions and leadership in the extracurricular realm.
 
This year’s Crossroads Interdisciplinary Health Research Conference was a real milestone. The event celebrated its 15th anniversary – making it one of the longest running student-led conferences of its kind - with the largest number of delegates and attendees in its history.
 
Students from the Faculty of Health Professions were among the exeptional students who were recognized for their service - both on and off campus - at the 6th Annual Dalhousie Student Impact Awards on March 23.
 
In 2013, the Faculty launched the Employee Milestone Recognition Program. This program recognizes employees with 10 and 20 years of continuous service with the Faculty. This month, we're profiling Dr. Brenda Sabo from the School of Nursing.
