Dear Stratford Business,

We hope you are staying safe and well. This time is challenging and uncertain for most of us, however, we are sure together we will make it through. In this newsletter, we wanted to invite you to our first webinar session taking place on May the 14th, and share with you a few updates.

Do not hesitate to contact us! You can always reach us by email, phone or on social media.

On May the 1st it was announced by High Streets Minister Simon Clarke MP that BIDs across England will share £6.1m of funding to spend on projects that will help their local economies through the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government recognises BIDs role in supporting high street businesses and providing key intelligence to local and central government on the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on their local economies.

High Streets Minister Simon Clarke MP said:

‘BIDs are uniquely placed and have a proven track record of success in supporting local businesses, empowering communities, championing our town centres and driving forward the renewal of our high streets”.

The funding will help cover BIDs day to day costs for the next 3 months. The money will be paid to local authorities and then dispersed to Business Improvement Districts. By accessing this support, BIDs can ensure they continue to make a real difference to the recovery of local economies.

As you may know, April 2020 marked the start of our second term. More importantly, it also marked the start of uncertain times for the business sector.

The COVID-19 outbreak is of huge concern to us all and whilst this period may be challenging and difficult for everyone, we wanted to reassure you that Stratford Original BID is committed to continue working for you to deliver value and support your business now more than ever.

As your BID, we have already put in place a number of measures to deal with this evolving situation and we will do our best to ensure we can move Stratford forward again.

Like many businesses, we are considering the best way to ensure funds for our continued operation, but also give consideration to the pressures you may have at this time.

By now, you should have received your levy demands or should receive these soon. The London Borough of Newham has recently informed us that, due to administrative error, the billing process started in late April 2020 instead of March 2020.

We understand we are all going through a period of uncertainty and want to help you as much as possible by offering you flexibility with the payment terms should you need it to ease the financial pressure on your business. If this is something you are interested in, please get in touch with us.

To ensure you have the latest business guidance, we have created the COVID-19 page on our website. We encourage all of our members and their staff to strictly follow government guidelines and to continue to check our website stratfordoriginal.com. More updates can also be found on our twitter page @StratfordOrig and on the newly created website www.businesssupport.gov.uk

Stratford has always been a place in constant evolution with resilient businesses choosing our town centre as their home. In our recent ballot, we have committed to work with you to move Stratford forward. Whilst there will be disruption in the near future, we will go through this together as a business community and will continue our shared vision to move Stratford forward.
In light of the uncertainty caused by COVID-19, to support our members Stratford Original BID is launching a series of business focused webinars. Every session we will invite experts who will walk you through the most relevant business updates as well as answer your questions.
