Dear Students and Families,

We appreciate your willingness to adapt and adjust as we plan for spring move-out and the return of students in the fall. In response to concerns from our students and families, we have modified the move-out process to allow an additional three weeks to complete this transition. The final move-out date has been changed from June 15 to July 6.

Because of upcoming deadlines, we ask for your understanding as we work to prepare the residence halls for the arrival of students for fall classes. This is an extensive process in a normal year, but it is even more time-consuming because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our teams will deep clean, and in some cases modify, our student residences to ensure that we are doing all we can to minimize risk and create safe spaces for our students.

We know that many students and their families are experiencing difficult circumstances, and we will continue to work with them and help them the best way possible. Requests for financial assistance or other accommodations related to dates or other hardships will be addressed individually. These requests should be sent to ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu as soon as possible.
For students and families in states where stay-at-home orders are still in effect, or who are unable to travel to campus, several options are available:
  • Packing and moving companies in Colorado are available for hire, and ready to help.
  • If you prefer to come to campus to pack and move your own belongings once you are able to travel, email ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu to make arrangements.
  • If you are unable to move out during one of the designated group times, contact ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu to arrange to move by July 6. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
  • If there is not an option here that meets your needs or your specific situation, the college will work with you to determine a plan of action. Please email ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu.
As shared earlier in the week, move-out will be conducted in three stages, based on the method you choose to move. Although stay-at-home orders have been loosened in Colorado, the federal and state recommendations still include social distancing. To make sure the CC community is doing its part to prevent further outbreaks, the move-out process will divide campus buildings into areas. To organize this process, students must select one of the move-out methods listed below and contact ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu to request a move-out time slot.

The options:

Group 1 will be those students who are electing to have a moving company pack and store their items off-campus or ship belongings home and are ready to move forward now. If you need more time, the pack/store/ship process can also be completed in Group 3. Students are responsible for contacting a moving company, arranging, and paying for their own move. Individuals seeking this option must provide the name of the moving company, and be available on their assigned move-out day to answer a video call from Campus Safety if there are questions about “what belongs to whom” in a room. Please keep in mind that most items will need to be boxed before they will be taken and stored by a moving company or shipped home. Any alcohol, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia will be collected and destroyed by Campus Safety. Group 1 move-out will be between April 29 and May 10.

Group 2 will be students currently on campus. These students will also need to notify the college via ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu if they are opting to use a moving company to assist them during their scheduled move-out time. Group 2 move-out will be between May 11 and May 17.

Group 3 will be a scheduled, general move-out for all students. This includes students coming back to campus to move themselves or students who have arranged with a company to move, store, or ship their belongings. Students choosing this option must check in at ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu to get assigned a move-out window. Group 3 move-out will begin on May 18 and run through July 6.

Any students living in Western Ridge apartment buildings (Antero, El Diente, Blanca, or JLK) are encouraged, as their Block 8 academic schedules permit, to move out concurrent with Group 1 between April 29 and May 10. If you fall into this group and are able to move your belongings during Group 1, please contact ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu to schedule a move-out time. This is necessary to accommodate students who will be living on campus for the summer. If you cannot move out during that time, please plan to move out before May 27. Students who currently reside in Western Ridge apartments and who have been approved to stay on campus during the summer do not need to move.

There are a number of moving companies in the area that can be hired by students and families to assist with their move-out needs. One example is College Student Storage www.csstorage.com

The Colorado Springs Hilton Garden Inn has offered a discounted rate of $99 for members of the CC community who plan to travel to campus for move-out. Call the hotel and mention Colorado College to receive the rate: www.coloradospringsdowntown.hgi.com

If you have questions about the move-out process or need additional consideration to work through moving challenges, email ccmoveout@coloradocollege.edu
