The 19th American Regional Meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO) concludes
Delegations composed of governments, workers and employers from all the countries of the Americas met in Panama City from October 2 to 5, to discuss strategies and policies for productive development, labor formalization, social security and job training within the framework of the 19th Regional Meeting of ILO. The OAS was present and shared the progress it has made in strengthening the link between Ministries of Labor and Education in the region.

The VIII Ordinary Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE) was held
On October 4 and 5, the 8th regular meeting of the CIE was held at the OAS headquarters in Washington, DC. The meeting promoted dialogue among the OAS Member States and education partners to coordinate the implementation of initiatives and programs that support and strengthen the actions established in the three pillars of the Inter-American Education Agenda, among other important topics.

Guatemala has a new Minister of Labor
On September 18, Gabriel Bladimir Aguilera Bolaños was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Guatemala. From September 19, 2017, Mr. Aguilera served as Vice-Minister of Social Security and Employment.
