Government, workers and employers of Castilla and Leon shared Social Dialogue model with 17 countries through OAS-RIAL
|
|
During their visit to the OAS on March 19, a tripartite delegation of Castilla and Leon shared their Social Dialogue model, which has been recognized as an example of tripartite negotiation, having achieved more than 100 agreements on labor, social and economic-industrial issues. Participants from 17 countries in the region were able to learn about this experience through a RIAL-OAS Webinar. The event included presentations from Carlos Fernández Carriedo, Employment Counselor of the Junta de Castilla y Leon; Faustino Vergara, Secretary General of the General Union of Trade Union Workers; Saturnino Fernández, representative of Comisiones Obreras; and Santiago Aparicio, President of the Confederation of Business Organizations, as well as a space for interaction between the speakers and the audience. Cooperation between Jamaica and the United States begins
Monday, March 25th marked the beginning of a Bilateral Cooperation between Jamaica and the United States on Occupational Safety and Health. The Jamaican delegation, headed by Permanent Secretary Collette Risden, was greeted at the OAS headquarters by the Director of Human Development, Education and Employment of the OAS, Jesus Schucry Giacoman, the representative of the State Department of the United States, Julianna Aynes -Neville, and the team of the Labor and Employment Section of the OAS, Maria Claudia Camacho and Guillermo Calzada. The delegation will hold multiple meetings with government authorities and travel to Chicago to learn about occupational health strategies in the field.

OAS welcomes new Director of Human Development, Education and Employment
On March 15th, Mr. Jesus Schucry Giacoman Zapata was appointed Director of the OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Employment, which is a part of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI). This Department is in charge of the Ministerial processes of Education and Labor, as well as the OAS Scholarships program, and diverse initiatives of regional cooperation, like the RIAL.

Registration open for Workshop on Skills for the Future, to take place in Chile, May 16-17
The invitations for the Inter-sectorial Workshop on "Skills for the Future: Coordination between Ministries of Education and Labor", to take place on May 16 - 17th in Santiago de Chile, were sent last week to OAS Permanent Missions and should be reaching all Ministries and special guests very soon. We look forward to everyone´s participation!

12th RIAL Call for Bilateral Cooperation proposals closes with great success!
March 15 marked the deadline for submitting proposals to the 12th RIAL Call for Bilateral Cooperation. Thanks to all members, the Call was a success! A total of 47 proposals involving 17 countries from all the subregions of the hemisphere were received, addressing major issues of the world of work, such as gender equity, conflict resolution, compliance with labor legislation, social protection, and employability, among many others. The results of the Call will be published in mid-April. Thank you all for your interest and support to the RIAL!
