18 countries participated on Information Webinars on RIAL Bilateral Cooperation
|
|
Ministries of Labor of 18 countries participated in the Informative Webinars on the 12th Call for Bilateral Cooperation of the RIAL, held on February 5 and 6, in Spanish and English, respectively. During the virtual meetings, the attendees were able to learn more on the preparation of proposals to access financing of cooperation activities, and participated in a match-making exercise to identify partners for cooperation
The deadline to submit applications to the OAS Technical Secretariat is February 25.

ILO, IOM, FAO and OAS present project for the socio-economic inclusion of Venezuelan migrants
To promote economic, labor and social inclusion of people displaced by the crisis in Venezuela, officials from the ILO, IOM, FAO and OAS presented the project "Venezuelan Immigration in South America: support for socio-economic insertion in host countries". The presentation was held before representatives of the countries where the program will be implemented (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru), and Permanent Observers of the OAS.
During their visit, the delegations also participated in a thematic session of the OAS Committee on Migration Issues (CAM).

Countries urged to act on universal social protection
Within the framework of the conference "Together to achieve Universal Social Protection" held at the headquarters of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Global Partnership for Universal Social Protection (USP2030), issued a call to action for countries to develop their national social protection systems in order to achieve universal coverage. This Partnership, created by the World Bank and the ILO in 2016, warned that to this day, more than half of the world's population does not have access to even one Social Protection benefit.

OAS to provide virtual course on "Strategic Planning with a Gender Approach"
The Educational Portal of the Americas, along with the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), will hold a virtual course "Strategic Planning with a Gender Approach", aimed at improving the effectiveness of projects, programs and public policies formulated for gender equity. The course starts on March 25th and has a duration of 10 weeks, in Spanish only. The deadline to register is February 14th.

Grenada assumes the Chair of CIDI
On January 31, the Permanent Representative of Grenada to the Organization of American States (OAS), Yolande Yvonne Smith, assumed the Chair of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), in a ceremony at the headquarters of the Organization in Washington DC. CIDI is the entity of the OAS responsible for promoting partnership for integral development with the objective of contributing to the elimination of poverty.
