Snowden, at the start of the Crib Goch pass.

September's Mountain Challenger brought us to the steps of the highest mountain in Wales, the illustrious Mount Snowden.

As you know, we never take the easy route, if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing and all that, so we decided to conquer the most dangerous path, Crib Goch.

Crib Goch is the site of many accidents, many unfortunately fatal. The Mountain Rescue warn quite simply 'the route up Crib Goch and along the ridge is extremely dangerous and should not be attempted by novice walkers'... (gulp !)

Crib Goch (Red ridge) is an adrenaline fuelled gut wrenching scary arête of Snowdon, which is not to be undertaken lightly. Once you embark on the traverse of the ridge you cannot get off until you have reached the other side, such is the severity. The only things that get off of the side are either mountain goats or casualties, so this is not the best of places to find out that you may be afraid of heights.

Nevertheless, undaunted we pressed on for charity and conquered yet another stubborn summit. Next stop Scarfell Pike...

Don't forget, we're not doing this simply as a weekend jaunt. We're old, unfit and DO know better. We're raising much needed funds in support of The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Simply go to the Just Giving page

You never know, it could be your life we end up saving !
