The COVID-19 crisis created unprecedented challenges to the healthcare system including shortages of PPEs. In San Diego County, Community Colleges with the ability to 3D-Print PPEs that included: MiraCosta College - MiraCosta TCI; Palomar College; San Diego City College; and Mesa College joint efforts to manufacture about 3700 Face Visors, Adjustable Face Straps (Ear Savers) and decontamination boxes for frontline health workers. These PPEs were delivered to hospitals and federally qualified health centers throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties.
We acknowledge the time and effort of faculty members and students who selflessly volunteered to print these PPEs at their own homes. We also appreciate the coordination efforts from the CCCCO staff, and the support of the administrators and industry partners mentioned below.
