Ric Horsfall resigned from the Christchurch Metro Cricket Board earlier this year after serving on the inaugural Board established in 2012. He had been Chairman for a period but there is a requirement that he cannot hold that position while also serving on the Board of Canterbury Cricket. In order to oversee a smooth transition, he resigned that position as required but remained for a final year to support the incoming Chairman.
Ric's time at the CMCA added to a lengthy contribution to Community Cricket commencing at Bamford Primary school and contiuing at Linwood College and the Lancaster Park Cricket Club. He is set to continue that contribution in coming years with Canterbury Cricket.
Having just completed our annual pitch audit throughout the cricket parks of Christchurch, we found them in indecent good health.
As expected, the club pitches were very good with an even cover of grass growth. But it was the Council-prepared pitches that also caught the eye. We have requested that the Council specifications provided to the contractor involve more preparation time. Hagley Corner, as usual, looked excellent while Burnside, Heathcote and Burwood shone through. It was good to note that the clubs, by using pig tails and soft tape, gave important protection to their blocks during the winter months. Beckenham, in particular, looked very good for the coming season.
A number of the school grounds will benefit from a later start to their season.
Christchurch Metrto Cricket are excited to have confirmed a partnership with Cricket Express for the coming summer.

They stock all the major cricket brands and also offer many products that are exclusive in New Zealand to Cricket Express. Cricket Express offer full cricket bat knocking-in and repair services at all branches.

Members of the public have an opportunity to be photographed with the unique trophy and collect autographs.
NZC’s intent is to also have the Mace on display at every BLACKCAPS home international game this summer.
The Mace will be visiting the Town Hall between 1-3pm tomorrow and we look forward to seeing Tom Latham, Matt Henry, Henry Nicholls, Todd Astle and Gary Stead at the event.
Lancaster Park Site Blessing

Cost is $125 per person (including GST) and would be invoiced in the week leading up to the Course. Participants will be asked for details of who should be invoiced for this fee on the Registration Form.
Both Courses are all day events which will start at approximately 8.30am-9am.
Roger Wyeth Move
Roger has given his last decision on the cricket fields of Christchurch with his retirement and, consequently, his return to his family roots that exist in Karatane just north of Dunedin.
Roger’s education was at Otago Boys’ High School where he played in their 1st XI for two years as a batting all-rounder. On leaving school, he joined the University Cricket Club in 1969 and played at Senior Reserve level. From 1970 to 1980 he played Senior Grade cricket with the likes of Otago stalwarts Keith Campbell, Glen Turner, Ray Hutchison and Murray and Richard Webb. His sporting endeavours saw Roger take over 200 senior wickets.
The Old Boys Collegians Cricket Club are making excellent progress with the rebuild of the new pavilion at Elmwood Park. The bulldozers have been through the old building and the site is cleared, with construction of the new pavilion getting underway shortly.
Things are still on track for the new building to be completed by the end of 2021.
