Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

City of Edinburgh Council Rent Consultation

Help shape future housing services in Edinburgh

City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) tenants have one week left to respond to CEC's Rent Consultation for 2022/23.  This is an ideal opportunity for tenants to help shape the future of housing in Edinburgh.  Tenants' rents pay for the services we receive, improvements to our homes and help CEC build new homes for rent across the city, so your views matter.

CEC is currently carrying out their rent consultation which runs until Wednesday 8th December 2021 and ETF would encourage tenants to have their say.  This can be done in a number of ways:   ETF has already responded to CEC's Rent Consultation and you can download a copy by clicking here.  If you would like a paper copy, please email ETF's Development Worker Mark by clicking here or phone 07918 742468.

CEC Advice Shop

Providing support to tenants experiencing money or debt problems

Are you or anyone you know experiencing money or debt problems?  CEC's Advice Shop is open to any CEC or Housing Association tenant and can offer information, advice or assistance with any benefit or debt matter.  Advisors can offer help with issues relating to rent arrears, loans, credit cards, catalogue debt and Council Tax.

You can email the Advice Shop by clicking here or phone 0131 200 2360.  You can also go to a Locality Office and call the Advice Shop from the free phone there.  You can find out more on the Advice Shop's website by clicking here.

Providing support to the elderly and vulnerable

Coping during the winter months

At this time of year many people are looking forward to Christmas, however for others, it brings a sense of anxiety and worry.  With rising fuel prices, many people are worried about the costs of heating their home.  Support is available through Home Energy Scotland and you can find out more by clicking here or phone 0800 808 2282.

Cold houses can be very harmful to people and can cause them to become physically ill, including with respiratory problems.  If you think someone may be at risk because their house is too cold, contact Social Care Direct on 0131 200 2324.  If you have concerns that someone is showing signs of hypothermia call 999.
This is the very last E-Newsletter of 2021 and thank you for your continued support of ETF throughout the year.  Don't forget that Federation Matters, along with other Federation publications, can be downloaded from our website by clicking here.

The Federation Office will close on Friday 17th December 2021 at 4.00pm for the Festive Period.  We will re-open again on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

On behalf of everyone at ETF, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and very best wishes for 2022.  Stay safe and take care.
