NOVEMBER 2022.

Never Stop Learning

Learning has many positive effects on our overall well being. It exposes us to new ideas, keeping us curious and engaged. It gives us a sense of achievement, boosting our self-confidence and resilience. It gives us a sense of belonging, camaraderie, friendship. It gives us a sense of freedom, doing something for ourselves rather than for others. Its fun!

There are many ways to keep your brain and body healthy and active. We can share a skill with friends, learn to sing, to line-dance, to speak another language or even to write a novel. We can slow down with meditation or tai chi, slim down with aqua aerobics or just chill out over a ball of yarn, a shared cuppa or a meal.

U3A Gympie promotes healthy ageing by sharing educational, creative and leisure activities, all provided by our own members. We ask for no qualifications for membership and award no degrees or diplomas. We are all volunteers, offering our members a range of classes, some form of physical exercise and social interactions.

Now is a good time to check out one of our other classes, to see if there is something you might enjoy. Remember you can try an activity before you decide to join. Invite your friends. They can try too, even if they are not yet members. The six weeks before we break for the summer are an ideal time to do just that. You, or your friends may even realise there is an activity you could tutor.

So check our website (u3agympie.com) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/u3agympie), or talk to our Class Coordinator, Denice.

Keep a look out for our new business card…

Classes Updates

Unfortunately, ill health is still dogging some of our classes causing cancellations, which is unfortunate but unavoidable.

Class numbers are down and with rising costs some of our halls, class numbers are not covering the costs, so please spread the word. We are planning for a big recruitment drive for Open Day in January.

Tutors contact me if you have any late enrolments or payments, so that I am not disrupting your class.

I am looking forward to our Annual Luncheon. Good food, a giggle and a laugh and that’s what U3A is all about. If we learn something it’s a bonus.

See you soon
Denice

Class Coordinator Denice McDougall can be contacted by phone 0490 757 458 or email classes@u3agympie.com for all enquiries.
Happy Birthday!
To all members celebrating their birthday this month.

Attention Tutors!

Time to spread the joy! I would like to  encourage more people to become members and join one or more of our great classes.

To help with this, please send me a few upbeat words (25 - 30) about your class. Bright, cheery photos welcome too. I will scatter these through our next couple of issues and look forward to increased numbers next year.
