The coordinators for United in Spirit (Michael Leslie) and Inclusive Worship Congregations (Rita Goldberger) are extending an invitation for your congregation to shine ("don't hide it under a basket!") at this year's Castro Street Fair. With over 50,000 attendees from all around the bay area, the Castro Street Fair is a great opportunity to reach new folks and spread the word about LGBT-affirming congregations.
Our interfaith booth will provide information from many of the local churches, synagogues and other religious groups who welcome and affirm LGBT people. Volunteers will help answer questions and hand out a brochure with contact information for national and local affirming congregations and religious groups. It is not unheard of for attendees to greet our rainbow "God is Love" booth with joy (or even temporary confusion) and so there is always the possibility volunteers may witness or share in such holy moments.
You are welcome to participate by providing informational materials to display or by volunteering at the booth. The fair starts at 11:00 a.m, but you can drop off materials any time after 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Volunteers who want to help staff the booth can come by at any time, for any length of time, during fair hours, 11:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. The exact location will be posted on the website and Facebook page. Look for the rainbow "God is Love" and "United in Spirit" banners. Check-in with Rita Goldberger when you arrive.
If you have any questions, please contact Rita Goldberger at (415) 640-4439 or firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no cost for you to participate.
Please share this email with any LGBTQ-affirming congregation or religious organization that you think will be interested.
