On Tuesday, May 14, around 10:25 AM, a huge crane drove up. The BLOCK House arrived on a long flatbed truck. The crane operator lifted the BLOCK House off the flatbed and set it on its foundation. Today, there it sits waiting patiently to welcome home its new resident!
Over the past four months, Facing Homelessness has coordinated volunteers and professional laborers to transform a neglected patch of my backyard. They cleared away tree stumps and an old metal shed; installed water and sewer lines and solar panels; tore down and rebuilt my deck; and landscaped my backyard with beautiful trees, shrubbery, and plants.
Presently, Facing Homelessness and their partnering agencies are staged to refer the right person, at the right time, to move into the Block House. Remember early on, I asked people to pray about the selection process. It must be a two-way match, not only for me the homeowner, but also for the resident who will be living in the Block House. This is the perfect give-and-receive opportunity for us both.
I know God's plan for this BLOCK Project is coming full circle. Someone is in store for a blessing --a place to call home. And imagine this....for them the statement, "there's no place like home," is not a fairytale!
