Travels with Jesus

Last summer, St. Paul's went all over the world! As church members traveled to the beach and camp, to the mountains of Guatemala and the Museum of Art just around the corner, they took "Small St. Paul" with them and shared their photos. This summer, you are invited to carry Jesus with you wherever you go. Put "Travel Jesus" in your pocket, and even when you are far from home, remember that Jesus is always by your side. If you like, take a picture of the adventures you share with Travel Jesus, and post them to St. Paul's Facebook Page or email them to the office so we can share them. If you'r'e not on social media, you can also print out a photo and put it on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Let this be a reminder that even when we may not see each other as often during the summer holidays, we are all still connected through Christ, no matter where we are.

From June 23 through July 14 in our worship services, we will travel with Jesus in a sermon series that follows Jesus as he makes his way around Galilee, Samaria and Judea, on adventures of healing, teaching and making disciples. These "Travels with Jesus" will examine what we can learn from Jesus' travel stories, as told in the Gospel of Luke. If you cannot be in church for worship on any Sunday, you can find a recording of the sermon on St. Paul's Youtube Channel, on the church Facebook page, or request it from Rachael in the office.

You can find a printable Travel Jesus at this link, in St. Paul's Facebook group, or meet him at church on Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. Let's all make sure we are never far from Jesus in the months ahead, no matter how far from home we journey.

Joyfully Yours,

St. Paul's Book Club

The book club will meet Thursday, June 13 at 6:30pm in the Brown Building. This month's selection is novel "A Gentleman in Moscow," by Amor Towles. After June, the Book Club will take a summer break and resume in the fall. Thank you to Amanda Sinodis for organizing the Fall & Spring Book Club!

Mark Your Calendar!

July 1 marks the beginning of St. Paul's new fiscal year. A called Board Meeting will be held after 11 am worship on Sunday, June 23 to vote on the new budget and slate of church officers. A Congregational Meeting will follow on Sunday, June 30 after 11 am worship. Please plan to attend and exercise your vote as a member of St. Paul's!
Habitat for Humanity Volunteers Needed!

Willing hands wanted for a Habitat work day on Saturday, June 22,      8:15 am - 4 pm. This is our final work day for the 2019 Interfaith Build, and we are scheduled to work alongside Muslim volunteers from          ICNA Relief (similar to our Week of Compassion).

The house is located south of downtown Raleigh, off of I-40. No construction skills are needed, just a desire to serve! You must be age 16 or older. To sign up, contact Diane and click here to register here.
Announcing St. Paul's 2019 All-Church Retreat:

"Nourishment for the Journey"

Enjoy a weekend of spiritual nourishment at the 2019 All Church Retreat! This year's retreat will be a little different, but with the same spirit of play, worship, rest and renewal. To make it easier for more people to attend, we are having the retreat close to home, a little later in the fall. Millbrook Baptist Church in midtown Raleigh will be our host. They have lovely gardens and a labyrinth, which will help us as we explore meditation and other spiritual practices that we can incorporate into our daily lives. Our speaker will be J. Dana Trent, a local Baptist clergywoman who has written several books on meditation, sabbath, and interfaith relationships.

The retreat will begin with dinner, worship and games at 6 pm on Friday, September 20. On Saturday, we will enjoy interactive group sessions led by Dana, service projects, field trips and other fun group activities for all ages. Of course, there will be the annual talent show, too! The retreat will conclude Sunday morning, September 22, with worship in a local park and a cookout. Our friends from Covenant Christian Church will join us for the retreat again this year. Look for registration forms coming soon!
GRADUATION SUNDAY is this Sunday, June 9th! During the 11:00am worship service, we will celebrate our high school and college graduates, and welcome Barton College Chaplain, David Finnegan-Hosey, as our guest preacher.

SUMMER IS HERE: St. Paul's Youth have a full summer planned with weeks spent at Camp Caroline and a local mission trip based out of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Raleigh. Here is a reminder of some important summer dates so you can be praying for our youth:

Thanks to everyone who helped make St. Paul's 60th Birthday a joyful and meaningful celebration. If you did not get to enjoy the message from Peter Olejar, our 2019 Tom Law Distingished Preacher, you can listen to an online recording here. For those unable to access this link, contact the church office to request a DVD with the recording.

Dear Members of St. Paul's,

I want to thank the church for the amazingly beautiful Waterford clock that St. Paul's presented to me recently.

It will be a treasure that will constantly remind me of your kindness.

And if we are lucky, it should also "Get Me to the Church on Time."

Also, thanks to each of you for your wonderful words of encouragement and appreciation on Sunday, May 19.

As Carolyn has said to me repeatedly, "What a wonderful weekend!"

Pete Olejar

Dearest Friends at St. Paul's,

Thanks so very much for the notes, texts, and kind words for my 25th year! Your generosity is overwhelming... the beautiful Waterford Vase is a treasure always! You are amazing!

St. Paul's office will adopt an abbreviated schedule for the summer. Summer office hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30am - 2:30pm. If you need assistance from our Office Administrator, Rachael, she will be available during these times. On Mondays and Fridays, one of our ministers will usually be in the office, but camps, mission trips, General Assembly and "other duties as required" may take them away some weeks. Phil Kraemer will continue to be available Mondays 9am - 4pm and Tuesdays 9am - noon. If you have questions for any of our staff, we are happy to respond to email and phone messages as soon as we are able. Thank you for your understanding, as much of the work of ministry takes place outside of the church walls -- especially in the summer!
