The One Purse Heartbeat

(A new e-newsletter from One Purse)

August 2016

A Message From Founder, Heather Case

Dear One Purse Friends,

Welcome to the first issue of the “One Purse Heartbeat,” our new newsletter for donors, hostesses, advocates, and friends. The Heartbeat will keep you up to speed on new opportunities to support sex trafficking survivors and change lives. Our goal is to not only share inspiring survivor stories and ways you can help but also to provide useful information that adds value for you and your family. We love hearing about all the ways you are advocating for survivors and sharing messages of hope for victims of human trafficking. Feel free to send us your stories and you may just see them in an upcoming issue of the One Purse Heartbeat. We encourage you to share this newsletter with your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who have a heart for restoring the dreams of women and children.

In each issue of the Heartbeat you will find:

  • Faith-filled Inspiration
  • Survivor Stories
  • Upcoming Events
  • Hostess/Gathering Spotlights
  • An Easy Recipe Corner
  • Fashions for Change
  • Shareable Social Media Snapshots
  • And More…

It is only thanks to faithful supporters like you that we are able to restore dreams and change lives. Thank you for your continued interest in One Purse and we hope you enjoy hearing the One Purse Heartbeat.

Making a Difference,

Your Gifts Restore Her Dreams

While visiting Naples for a recent One Purse gathering, we met with a woman named Christa Hicks. Christa runs a ministry for trafficked and exploited women called Into the Jordan. During Christa’s time in ministry she has served over 100 women in Ft. Myers and the surrounding area. Through your generous giving, One Purse was able to provide Christa a grant that will benefit many of the sex trafficking survivors that she serves. Click here to read more about Christa’s story and how you can help Restore Her Dream.

Special thanks to Michelle Schultz and the ladies at the First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg for hosting a One Purse Gathering this spring. It was great to see the smiles around the room as ladies picked out their "new-to-you" handbags. Proceeds from all One Purse Gatherings help restore the dreams of a sex trafficking survivor.
Inspiration
It is when we come to the Lord in our nothingness, our powerlessness and our helplessness that He then enables us to love in a way which, without Him, would be absolutely impossible.
~ Elizabeth Elliot

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33 (NIV)

In Her Words

"Our doors are open to our community. Hosting a One Purse Gathering gave us an opportunity to serve, and at the same time spread awareness about an issue that could save a child's life."

~ Michelle Schultz

4 Tips For Avoiding an Over-Programed Schedule
August means the start of school for many families and a transition to a regular schedule. For some this is a welcome change with a new routine providing structure in what can be a chaotic world. Others however find it hard to balance the ever increasing demands on their time and resources. There are so many opportunities for children and families to fill up after-school schedules that an organized calendar can quickly become overwhelmed with activities. Try using these 3 Tips For Avoiding an Over-Programed Schedule:
  • Determine Family Values: Does your family value quality time, achievement, spiritual growth, etc., knowing your family values can help inform the types of time commitments you make.
  • Prioritize: If nothing else gets done this week what is critical to your health and well being and that of your family?
  • Schedule it: If it's important to you and your family it should be on the calendar. If family dinner night, prayer time, exercise are just as important as soccer practice and piano lessons then they should have a set time and date on the calendar.
  • Own It: Remember, YOU are in control of your own schedule!
