President's Message

Dear Members,

By now you will well and truly be back into the working environment and the Xmas / New Year festivities will be a memory of day's gone bye!

The 2017 calendar year has started with a quick pace, although our Chamber is in a healthy state thanks to the past President and committee members, there are certainly challenges ahead that require addressing and with some urgency. Our main concern is a drop off in subscription revenue, and as you will appreciate, subscriptions are our main income stream and our blood line for survival. Although there are numerous reasons why subscriptions have dropped (economy, expats returning or relocating, etc.), we are faced with the task of attracting new members to strengthen our base.

The Committee is introducing a number of initiatives to lift the overall profile of the chamber and ensure that we are providing value - with the aim of increasing members. NZTCC is passionate about promoting trade and business between Thailand and New Zealand. We provide information and advice to members on doing business in both countries, helping them make valuable connections with private and government-sector organizations, and we showcase wherever possible New Zealand products and culture. So if you know of any potential members please contact us as the goal over the next 6 months is to increase member numbers by an additional 60+ members or financial equivalent. As you will appreciate this will not be an easy task, however in saying that the Committee has committed to attracting at least 2 new members per committee member, a great start which will make a dent in the 60 or so new memberships targeted.

One of the "adding value" deliverables which the committee has worked on for some time is to upgrade our Website and I'm pleased to advise our members that the new website is now operational, so please visit www.nztcc.org and provide valuable feedback to ensure we have the right contents that supports our key objectives and delivers to our members the relevant information and contacts to support commerce between NZ & Thailand. I'd like to acknowledge the work Kos Design who have led the web development and have also joined as a Member.

Other initiatives that we are launching included an active social agenda with other chambers, strengthened corporate knight promotions and improved support for existing and new members. On that note I'm delighted to announce that 6 new members who have committed to NZTCC, they are;

A big thank you to our new members, please ensure you support them where possible.

Our social and networking calendar is also starting to fill up with specific events programmed throughout the year, more on that in my next month's report, but for now it is all eyes on the premier event for the 2017, The New Zealand Ball. Again this year's event is a sellout, organized in conjunction with New Zealand Society and supported by our venue partner Amari Watergate Bangkok. For those attending the NZ Ball on the 25th February, I look forward to meeting as many of our members as possible.

Finally, thank you to the committee, in particular the new members, it is evident that there is a willingness and desire to take on board the challenges that lie ahead and to ensure NZTCC delivers.

Sincerely,

Warren Boyes
President
