Hey There!

So, this issue is late. REALLY late. The past month has been crazy busy for me. I moved, then all hell broke loose. 

I'm a do-it-yourself kinda guy. I'm not going to pay someone to move all my furniture, and belongings. I have a truck, so I figured, "fuck it" I'll slowly move over the next few weeks. Wrong wrong wrong. NEVER "slowly" move. Your life will be a total mess for weeks.  

So, after 75 truckloads, I was finally moved. I started setting up my new office and found out I didn't have any internet service. After multiple calls to Comcast and multiple technician visits, it was determined the main cable to my house was bad. Comcast would have to run a new line, over 400 feet, to the pole across the street.

This was bad new, REALLY bad news. I work from home. A solid internet connection is critical to me. To top it off, Comcast wasn't making any guarantees about the service. They claimed my house was too far from the road and service might not be possible.

I looked for alternatives. AT&T was supposed to be available, but they came out and told me their lines running to my house were bad as well. So, at this point I had zero communication lines to my house. I couldn't even order basic phone service.

I resorted to using 4G service from Verizon to handle the critical things. All else had to wait. After 3 weeks, Comcast finished the trench, laid conduit and cable and now I'm back in business!

Working from home is a great perk, but once you loose your link to the rest of the world, shit hits the fan.

I'm not sure how much money I lost over the past month. However, I do know the opportunity cost was significant. I've been spending all of my time dealing with the move and internet issues.

So, for those of you like me, here is a quick tip. Spend a few bucks. Hire someone to do the shit you don't want to do. Have backup plans in place for your business and don't take anything for granted.
