What is the Telehealth Clinic?

The telehealth clinic gives your child the opportunity to be seen by a licensed healthcare provider without having to leave the school. However, if preferred, a student can be bussed to the onsite clinic in Austin.

You do not have to be present for your child to be seen; however, a consent form must be signed by you in order for any services to be rendered.

During a telehealth clinic visit, a student can be screened, examined, diagnosed, treated, and monitored. Special equipment gives the medical provider the ability to examine the student’s ears, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, etc. Assisted by the school nurse, a student can be seen for the following concerns: cuts/ abrasions, rashes, pink eye, coughs/colds, strep throat, earaches and/or flu-like symptoms.

A pediatric doctor is available via telemedicine. Using this innovative technology, the provider can see clearer images at a higher resolution than the naked eye.

Fees are billed directly to your insurance provider, just as if your student had been seen at the doctor’s office.

Improved detection and management of chronic diseases like asthma and diabetes.

With permission, a student can be seen without parents having to leave work.

Prescriptions can be sent to a pharmacy and can be ready for pick up when you get out of work.

Your child will not have to leave school to see a doctor. The telehealth clinic will be able to reduce the amount of time spent out of the classroom, resulting in better school outcomes. Healthier kids make better students.

Fewer emergency room visits, meaning greater cost savings and less out-of-pocket expenses.

Services provided at the school-based telehealth clinic will be billed to your insurance company.

If you do not have insurance, services will be provided on a sliding scale fee based on income. No student will be denied services because of the inability to pay.

If you lack health insurance, your child may be eligible.
