January 2018                                                                                                    A New Year

New Library Building Update: We did not reach our goal in 2017. We want to let everyone know the Library Board is busy collecting information and reviewing the options to raise the full funds for the new library building. They will be discussing the options at their January 8, 2018 meeting, which is at 5:00 p.m. at the library.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on the following Mondays in 2018:
January 8; Februrary 5; March 5; April 9; May 7; September 10; October 1; November 5 and December 3. They do not meet during the summer; special meeting notices are posted in the library and on the website calendar.
Thank you to everyone who participating in our Food for Fines drive and  Toys for Tots. With everyone's help, we collected 2 full boxes of toys for the program to help all kids have a Merry Christmas.
Four boxes of food were collected and given to the Hemlock United Methodist Church food pantry! The support of everyone in our community is appreciated by the library and the programs we support.
We will be having a Makerspace/STEM Night at the Library on Wednesday, January 24th from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.  There will be different stations set up in the library of fun activities to do.  Come join the loud, messy fun!

Come check out our Makerspace Station located at the blue table in the Juvenile Section of the library!  This is a self help activity that changes every 2 weeks.  These activities make kids think, learn, and create all while having fun at the library.  This month's activities are:

January 15th - January 26th .......Sound Spinners

January 29th - February 9th  .....Reflection Snowflake

Have some spare time and want to keep the kids occupied?  Come hang out at the library and try out some of the STEM kits.  These kits are available for use at the library anytime, just ask at the counter.  They make noise, light up, and are fun for the kids (adults too)!

Programming (reminder, you do not have to have a library card nor reside in our service area to participate in our activities, both computers and programming are open to everyone).

Drop in Craft: our month off; will resume in February!

Page Turners will discuss "The Healing Quilt" by Lauraine Snelling on Monday,January 29. New members are always welcome!

Play to Learn:  Resumes on Jan. 15. Meets on  Mondays, 9:30-11.  This is for children from birth - age 5.  Parents/children meet up for social time, crafts, and music.
