Links to COVID Information and Daily Health Screening

Here are a few ways to find information about COVID's spread in our communities.  You can do your part to help stop the spread of COVID:  wear a well-fitting mask, wash hands, stay distanced, and get vaccinated if you're eligible!

Click HERE to find out where to get your vaccine by using the King County Vaccine Locator. Vaccines are now available for anyone aged 12 and up!  Many sites are walk-in and some offer appointments.

Click HERE to find King County's COVID Dashboards.

The Seattle Public School district's Business Intelligence and Health Services teams partnered to design a public-facing dashboard showing confirmed COVID-19 cases at Seattle Public Schools. Refreshed weekly on Mondays, this dashboard disaggregates (dividing data into parts) cases by region, week, and role to provide an understanding of the pandemic across the district.

And...here's the link to the SPS generic Daily Health Screening.

*New!* Planning to travel this holiday weekend?
While some restrictions have been loosened and many people are able to receive vaccines, please note that the following guidance is still in place:

  • It is recommended that non-essential travel is limited for unvaccinated people
  • Fully vaccinated people can travel safely within the United States
  • Regardless of vaccination status, everyone who travels should wear a mask and monitor for symptoms for 14 days
  • Unvaccinated travelers should get tested 1-3 days before travel and get tested 3-5 days after travel and self-quarantine for 7 days or self-quarantine for 10 days if they aren’t tested
  • People should NOT travel if: exposed to COVID-19, are sick, test positive for COVID-19, or are waiting for results of a COVID-19 test
  • People should NOT travel with someone who is sick

Save the Date for "Angst"

*New!* John Rogers and Jane Addams PTAs are bringing a screening of "Angst" to our community. A link to watch the film will be available from June 5-11, and we will be having a community discussion event on the evening of June 10th. We are figuring out the details, more information to come!

"Angst" removes the stigma and opens up the conversation around anxiety, helping people understand and manage their symptoms, and when to reach out for help. Most importantly, it shows people that they are not alone, and that anxiety is 100% treatable.

This hopeful and inspiring film has helped over 2 million people around the world, weaving in the personal stories of those suffering with expert perspectives, who break down what's going on, how to deal with it, and how to help others.  For many, watching Angst has been a catalyst for changing their lives for the better.  See the "Angst" website for more information about the film.

😻  8th Grade Goodbye June 17th 😻

On June 17, from 6-7pm we will have our "rolling" 8th Grade Goodbye. More details to come, but your student can walk, skate, ride their bike, or come in a car through the Jane Addams traffic loop to have one last goodbye to Jane Addams before high school.

End of School Year 2020-21 Device Return

*New!* At the end of school this spring, all students will need to return the SPS Technology they are using. These will be refurbished and re-imaged over the summer for new check-outs in the fall.

More information will be sent as we get closer to the end of classes. The following items will need to be returned after classes are over:

What should I bring?

  • Device (Laptop or iPad)
  • All Chargers or Power Cords
  • Laptop Sleeve, iPad Cover
  • For 2nd Graders: iPad Keyboards
  • Hotspot (along with charger, battery and bag)
  • Return Form

You will need to fill out a Return Form to slip inside your device or case as you return the SPS technology. No fines or fees will be applied this year, but the forms will help us quickly identify any repairs or replacements needed before fall.

Students who are enrolling in summer school classes may keep the devices through July to turn in at the end of summer classes.

Students who have assistive devices may keep them through summer to start school with them again in the fall.

*New!* DiscNW is excited to share that summer camps are a-go for this summer! We have 18 total sessions this summer for players ages 8 through 18! All experience levels are welcome.

In addition, we are being very intentional and thoughtful about how these camps are run and if they they will run. Participants will be in small cohorts for the entire week and extra procedures will be enacted to ensure the lowest risk possible environment given the current status of the pandemic. DiscNW has a Return to Play task force that approves each week of camp based on the current health & safety recommendations.

Check out all the sessions we are offering on our website at https://www.discnw.org/e/2021-summer-greater-seattle-youth-ultimate-camps! All sessions are Monday through Friday, 9AM-3PM.
