World Clean-Up Day 16 September, 2017

This campaign was started by the Clean Up Australia, a non-profit environmental conservation organization, in 1993. The organization decided to take the concept to the global level and its efforts had success. Millions of volunteers around the world annually gather to clean up their communities.
This World Clean up day gather your community to help in cleaning the Vashi Mini Sea Shore. The mini seashore in Vashi does not have a sea or a shore but is an oldest recreation spot. You could conduct the following activities:
1. Clean-Up Drive
2. Plantation
3. De-Weeding
4. Nature walks

Whats New 
Workshop on Bird Nest and Bird Feeders
Birds are important pollinators in any garden. You could boost the birdlife of your locality by installing bird nest boxes and feeders. These could be easily made out of household waste materials. This will be 3-4 hrs module to orient participants on birdlife. It includes presentation on bird architecture, hands on activity on bird nest and bird feeder making. The programme concludes with a short quiz.

Past Events 

Habitat Restoration Programme

On 5 August, 2017 18 members from DCB Bank had participated in the habitat restoration programme in Sarus Biodiversity Education Centre, Bhopal. This programme was conducted in collaboration with Bhopal Birds. The programme started with a short introduction which was then followed by activities like de-weeding, removing of the invasive species, mulching and sapling plantation.
Environmental Awareness Programme
On 20 August, 2017 we conducted a half day programme for a group of 40 plus students from a Vivekanand Bal Trust orphanage. This was sponsored by Parksons Packaging Company and we had executed on behalf of local NGO- Catalysts for Social Action. There were all together 60 participants including corporate employees and students. The programme started with Nature trail. It was raining nonstop yet the children enjoyed learning about local flora and fauna at Urban Haat. This was followed by a volunteering activity such as de-weeding on nature trails in butterfly gardens. The programme concluded by each one planting one butterfly attracting plant at the site. All were super drenched yet did not shy away from working in the rains.
Kitchen Gardening Workshop
On 1 September, 2017 we conducted two Kitchen Gardening Workshop for the employees of Wells Fargo India Solutions in Bangaluru and Hyderabad. These session started with a short presentation on kitchen gardening. There after we had a demonstration on compost making using your own kitchen waste. Employees participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the hand's on activity such as planting a sapling, making a planter by reusing the plastic bottles.We thank our experts Mr. Naresh Karikanti and Rama Rani for conducting the programme.
Free Butterfly Garden for Educational Institutions
As an extension of our work in Butterfly Conservation, we are now developing butterfly gardens for free in educational institutes under CSR initiatives of various corporate. We are therefore seeking nominations schools and colleges from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Bangaluru who are desirous to have a butterfly garden in their premises. This will be a zero cost for the site partner.

Free Butterfly Awareness Programme - Bangalore

In collaboration with Wells Forgo, Karnataka Forest Department and Karnataka State Harijan Girijan Rural Development Organization we have established a butterfly habitat on a 1.5 acres land wherein 5000 butterfly attracting plants have been planted. As part of the project, we are now conducting free butterfly awareness programmes for schools and colleges of Bangalore. The programme includes nature trail cum butterfly tour, quiz, lunch and take away souvenirs.
