World Water Day (21 March 2017)

The concept of celebrating World Forestry Day originated at the 23rd General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture in 1971. This day is  celebrated around the world to ring a bell among the society about the importance of forests and the scores of benefits which are gained from them.  The celebration takes place around the world every year,shining the spotlight on a different issue. Join the movement.

We won the global design competition for the makeover of the Maharashtra Nature Park

In December 2015, the MMRDA had launched the global design competition for the makeover of the MNP and out of the thirty teams around the world, Ladybird Environmental Consulting LLP had teamed up as environmental consultant with  Sameep Padora & Associates, design cell and Ratan J Batliboi Consultants Pvt Ltd and Design Cell. We all  will now work with MMRDA to further develop its master plan in line with the environmental guidelines and building and construction regulations.
Birdwing Field Guide to Common Moths of India

India’s first field guide on Indian Moths will be soon available in stores. The field guide features descriptions of 700 species of moths from 36 families depicted on 137 colour plates. More than 1000 colour photographs with male and female of some of species. The text include species description, biology, range, flight period. For first common names have been coined for most of moth species.  Introductory chapters include Introduction, Moth Studies ,Distribution,Taxonomy, Moth Behaivour,Moth defenses,Breeding biology, Economic importance, Moth watching, Gardening for Moths and Moth Photography

Past Events 

Trail in the Butterfly Garden at Scared Heart School, Vashi

On 10 January, 2017 we conducted our first trail in the Butterfly Garden that was established in Sacred Heart High School, Vashi in October. The plants in the garden has grown well and have also started flowering. The trail included 38 students of standard 8th. Students gained knowledge about the butterflies, their importance in nature, about the different plants that the butterflies depends on and their life cycle. After the trail we also had a quiz session.

Teacher's Orientation Program at Sacred Heart School, Vashi

An orientation program was held for the teachers of on 19 January, 2017. This program was conducted to create awareness among the teachers for butterflies and their importance in the environment. They were also explained about the different types of plants planted in the garden and the butterflies that are attracted by those plants. The teachers eagerly showed interest to learn a simple but a very innovative topic in helping the nature. 
1. Butterfly Habitat at Sliding Stone Tree Park Bangalore (Jarakbande Kaval Forest Reserve)
Five different schools across Bangalore took part in our Butterfly Awareness Program. Over 250 students and teachers visited this butterfly habitat. The program comprised of butterfly tour, butterfly trail, quiz, feedback followed by lunch. The students were also given butterfly sticker sheets as souvenir.

2. Butterfly Garden at Urban Haat in collaboration with Mahindra Susten Private Limited

A review visit was conducted to check the sapling growth on 23 January, 2017. It was observed that all the plants are growing well and have increased in height and also started flowering. We found in total fourteen butterflies of seven different species and a caterpillar of  Red Pierrot Butterfly.

Online Course on Birds for Beginners

The iNaturewatch Foundation is offering a three months online course on ''Birds for Beginners'' which will teach new birders the basic of birds & bird watching in a series chapters, video chats & field assignments.
