"People are the heart of the matter."

Welcome to the third edition of Yield to the King Ministry's (Y2K Ministry) newsletter!  We thank you for your prayers and support.  Throughout the spring Y2K Ministry has been developing its three-year strategic plan, sharing the word of God, feeding the hungry, planning its 1st Annual Fundraiser with Silent Auction, and praying for people all over the world.

Our community outreach projects are forging new opportunities for partnerships and sharing the Word of God at engagements such as women's conferences, a day retreat, and a spring tea.  Our ministry focus is women, men, children, youth, and families in day centers, shelters, tiny house villages, and individuals who stand on the street corners.  Our Prayer Team is very active and prays for people all over the world.

We are blessed richly to be a part of the work that God is accomplishing through us.  May God's will be done!

1st Annual Fundraiser with Silent Auction

Mark your calendars and join us for Home Runs for the Homeless!  We're raising funds to provide food, clothing, and shelter to the homeless. Look for more information and a formal invitation soon.  We hope to see you there!

Message from the Executive Director

Yield to the King Ministry is off and running this second quarter in 2017!  We thank you for your continuous prayers, volunteerism, partnership, and financial support.

Y2K Ministry has been in existence for almost two years.  In June 2015, God gave me this stretch assignment to establish and operate Y2K Ministry.  To be honest with you, there are times when I wake up and ask myself, "What on earth are you doing?"  I've been encouraged, discouraged, amazed, puzzled, baffled, miffed, humbled, and any other word you can think of that describes an amazing journey serving the Lord. It's been challenging, but everyday when I reflect I find peace and joy in knowing God is always with me, is in control of my life and ministry, and will accomplish all He has planned through Y2K Ministry.

Last year and the first half of this year, we fed over 350 homeless people at day centers, shelters, tent cities, tiny house villages, and individuals standing on the streets.  Now it's time for us to look to the near and distant future to make an even greater impact.  Believe me, there is more than enough work to do and people to feed out there.

For the past six months I have been going through a strategic planning process with 10 other nonprofit organizations in the greater Seattle area.  I applied for this opportunity through Washington State Nonprofits and was accepted into the cohort.  We spent time with a consultant in group and one-to-one sessions, and after going through all the necessary steps I wrote a comprehensive strategic plan.  The plan, in draft form, is ready to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval and finalization before the end of July 2017.

This strategic plan will take Y2K Ministry well into the year 2020 and continues our focus on homelessness and all the challenges that accompany that state of being.  Our objective is to bridge the gaps and provide services to access food, clothing, shelter, life-skills/counseling, health and wellness resources, and job readiness workshops.

Y2K Ministry has been blessed to operate mainly from private donations and funding from company-sponsored and independent foundations.  Major fundraising is a part of our strategic planning and at the top of our list is our 1st Annual Fundraiser with Silent Auction on September 23, 2017.  Our goal is to raise at least $5,000.00!  Please pray with us God's blessings upon this effort.

Faith, Hope, and Charity

Y2K Ministry shares the word of God with practicality, but without compromise, via biweekly podcasts.  Our outreach program is entitled "Hope 4 Today" with host Najja E. Brown.  Currently, Y2K Ministry has a listening audience of over 600 people in the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, France, Norway, Thailand, the United Kingdom and USA.

We discuss and examine life's issues from a biblical perspective conveying the simple message that God's plan for our lives will grant us a hope and a future. Our desire is for our listening audience to search the Scriptures for themselves and seek God for answers.

In June Hope 4 Today featured Josias Jean-Pierre, author of  "The Power of Your Words".  He is an actor, entrepreneur, inspirational speaker, poet, and a firm believer in Jesus Christ.  Mr. Jean-Pierre speaks truth through his words and has a message for all to hear.  Listen to the prerecorded podcast "The Power of Your Words Can Make or Break You" and enjoy 30 minutes of quiet time.

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen."  Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Outreach Partnerships

Our community outreach program is always mindful of the homeless and hungry population.  We stumbled upon a center Peace for the Streets by Kids from the Streets (PSKS) located in Central Seattle.  Their participants are youth and young adults, from ages 18-29. Their mission, in part, supports homeless, at-risk youth.  They have a 20-bed shelter and a drop-in center with a GED program component.

Yield to the King Ministry is looking to partner with PSKS in the near future.  In the meantime, we were able to meet an immediate need for clothing.  We support the work PSKS is doing and together we will make a difference.
Shoe Donation

Y2K Ministry donated 14 pairs of shoes for men, women and children to PSKS.  The shoes were perfect for men who wear sizes 10 1/2, 11, and 11 1/2 and for women who wear sizes 8 and 8 1/2.  We accept gently used clothing for men, women, and children.

Volunteer today and join us on this amazing journey!

Volunteer Application
Food Donation

Y2K Ministry is an Emergency Feeding Program distribution site.  We provide non-perishable food for small-, medium-, and large-sized families in need.  The bags contain a weeks worth of food, or up to 21 meals. We take referrals and deliver food to people all over King County.

Our first encounter with the Emergency Feeding Program was as Y2K Ministry volunteers.  We packed the bags with non-perishable food items.  We were so impressed with the variety of food bags for different ethnic groups and those with dietary restrictions, such as diabetes, that we inquired about how to become a distribution site.  The families to whom we have donated food indicate Y2K Ministry came "just in the nick of time".  They were without food, scarce on money and had limited resources.

Program recipients are grateful for the timely blessing.
Clothing Donation

Pictured above is Peace for the Streets by Kids from the Streets.  A month or so ago, Y2K Ministry donated men's clothing to PSKS.  The clothing items were suited for larger-sized men who wear XL, XXL, and XXXL, most often very difficult to find.  PSKS was very pleased to receive such a generous donation of quality clothing that satisfied a specific need for their participant population.
Prayer Requests
We receive prayer requests literally from all over the world.  Recently, a request came in from a man in Poland. I have recaptured, without any edits, his prayer request submitted for the prayer ministry team.  I share, with permission, his prayer that is not of a personal nature, but one that reminds us to pray for an entire world that is in trouble.  It is a joy to hear from people who believe in the power of prayer and who give the Y2K Ministry Prayer Team an opportunity to pray continuously for needs of the saints. His prayer request is as follows:

[We read] In the King James Bible, Ezekiel 22:30: "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

O God, please help us and teach us to build a wall [of prayer] around the USA, Canada and Poland.  Are you ready to stand in the gap, where God is the Helper and Teacher? Please pray that Poland, the USA/Canada would overcome for: (The Acts 26.18).

~ Poland, pray for freedom from dead religion to saving faith in God through Jesus Christ as the Saviour and the Lord by grace only,
~ the Church in the USA, Canada – pray for repentance and cleansing of the church--Matt. 3.12 "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."  James 5:16 (ASB)
