"People are the heart of the matter."

Welcome to the first edition of Yield to the King Ministry's (Y2K Ministry) newsletter!  We thank you for your prayers and support.  Throughout the year, Y2K Ministry has been busy sharing the word of God, recruiting volunteers, fundraising, and engaging in community outreach projects.  And above all, our prayer team believes in the power of prayer and stands ready and eager to ask God to bless you richly.

All things are possible with God; all we have to do is yield to Him and allow Him to work in and through us.  May God's will be done.

Hope for Every Step of the Way

Y2K Ministry shares the word of God with practicality, but without compromise, via biweekly podcasts.  Our outreach program is entitled "Hope4Today" with co-hosts Zenobia Bailey and Najja E. Brown and oftentimes featured guests. A few of the topics and/or series we have discussed are family, remaining steadfast, life's journey, second chances and God's grace, prayer, and love.  When you have 15 minutes of quiet time and want to relax and take in the word of God, tune in and listen to our prerecorded podcasts.

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.  And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."  Rom. 5:1-5 (NASB)

Nonprofit organizations rely on volunteers.  And the nice thing is many volunteers want to give back to community because they know what it's like to feel desperate, or have experienced hard times and somewhere along their journey reaped the benefit of someone who cares.

Over 22 people attended the Y2K Ministry volunteer orientation.
These volunteers make themselves available continually and are committed to reaching and providing hope to despondent residents within our communities. The outreach program is a perfect match for those who believe in Y2K Ministry's mission and want to share their time, gifts and talents.  The Board of Directors, all of whom attended as well, support Y2K Ministry by providing spiritual and fiduciary oversight.  Get involved today!

Preparing to Feed the Homeless

Our community outreach program has been busy reaching children, the homeless and hungry populations.  We serve people to show our love and how much we care.  When we bear the burdens of one another, we bring hope, charity and love.

Y2K Ministry partnered with Union Gospel Mission (UGM) and made sandwiches at Riverton Place, a residential recovery program for men.  Sandwiches are distributed to the homeless by the UGM Search and Rescue teams that go out 365 days a year to feed and minister to the homeless population within King County.

According to the Seattle Times article "
Seattle-area count finds huge spike in homelessness" dated January 29, 2016, people without shelter represents a 19 percent increase over last year.  During the region's One Night Count, the homeless count tallied 4,500 people and an increase was seen in South King County.

The number quoted in the Times article represents only those who were counted. There are many families, men, women and children, teenagers, and young adults who call the streets, overnight shelters, and homeless day centers their homes. Believe me, a couple of sandwiches a day go a long way!
We had a family-friendly fundraiser at Applebee's Restaurant in Renton, WA. Over 100 tickets were sold and over $1,200.00 was raised, a portion of which went to Applebee's.  Everyone who stopped by had a more-than-enough-to-eat, delicious, all-American flapjack breakfast with pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, orange juice and coffee.  It was a wonderful way to start the day!  We had loads of fun, family time, and fellowship.  Y2K Ministry operates strictly on funds that are raised, and private and corporate donations.  In the near future, we will pursue grants for faith-based nonprofit organizations.  Make a donation today!

Emergency Feeding

Y2K Ministry partnered with Emergency Feeding Program and assembled emergency food bags for individuals and families of all sizes.  These bags are distributed to designated area-wide emergency feeding sites to provide one week's worth of meals for people in need.  Together we are making a difference!
Student Outreach

We helped the Emergency Feeding Program fill school-aged backpacks with necessary classroom and personal items for returning students. The backpacks were donated by CenturyLinkTM and were distributed to needy children within the various public school districts.
Prayer Requests

Because of the chaos we are fraught with daily, which includes unrest, uncertainty, the unknown, and anxiousness, Y2K Ministry has activated a Prayer Team who will continually pray with and for you.  We would be honored to make mention of you always in our prayers.

Philippians 4:4-7 says, " anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." (NIV)
