Happy Holidays

What's a Happening Now...

It's officially the holiday season, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now Christmas is right around the corner.  Things are starting to slow down at the sailing center but we are still hustling and bustling in the office as we plan for the future.

We've had an exciting 2015 and as we reflect back on the year, we know
how thankful we are for all of you.  From new programs being launched, facility improvements, parents faithfully transporting children to the Charleston Yacht Club to volunteers representing us at various community events – our year would not have been half as fun if we didn’t get to share it with all members of our community.  Charleston Community Sailing continues to thrive because of you!  It is through your generosity that we are able to do what we do and your continued support is paramount to our success.  We wish you a very happy holiday and hope you will remember us in your end of year gift planning!

You are a part of our community, so contact us if you have an idea - we would LOVE to hear from you.

2015 Merrythought Recipients

Congratulations to Margaux Bacro-Duverger and Jack Sutton the 2015 Merrythought Trophy recipients. The half-hull perpetual trophy is in memory of Jack King and is awarded to deserving youth participating in our programs who display superior character, sportsmanship, and love of the sport. Winter Work Party

Roll up your sleeves and mingle with other members and volunteers at our Winter Work Party. Please join us on Saturday, December 12th starting at 9:30AM.  (RAIN DATE is 12/19) We'll take the rigs down, flip over the boats, clean the hulls, check PFD's and eat donuts.  No prior experience is necessary. All are welcome, please RSVP your attendance if possible.

Wear your Support!

We’ve partnered up with Lemon & Line to create our very own Charleston Community Sailing bracelet.  Now you can wear your support and 50% of the proceeds will support our mission.  These sold like hotcakes at our Oyster Roast Fundraiser, but don't worry you can still purchase one online today!

Oyster Roast Fun!

Our 9th Annual Oyster Roast Fundraiser was a blast and we want to THANK YOU for celebrating an incredible 2015 sailing season.  A round of applause for George Scarborough who was honored for his dedication to CCS over the years as a board member - thank you for all of your hard work. We must thank our event sponsors Baker Motor Company, Charleston Harbor Tours, Bank of South Carolina, Durlach Associates, ZHIK, Advanced Termite and Pest Control, Parker Marine Contracting, S & J Yachts, Charleston Realty, Paula & Tom Kurt, UK Sailmakers, Sadler & Hamm, Moose Down Scuba, Carolina Eyecare Physicians.  In addition we must thank the local businesses who donated items for the silent auction and the volunteers who worked hard to make the event run smoothly.  We are beyond grateful for the support of our community and look forward to continuing to provide public access to the water for ALL. Take a peek at event pictures.

High School Sailing

In November we co-hosted the SAISA Charleston Intersectional with the College of Charleston for 18 teams from all over the country. The backdrop was gorgeous!  The Fall season has come to end, but we will ramp back up end of January. We are always looking for volunteers for these events and the next regatta will be February 20/21, followed by the ISSA High School Doublehanded Championship for the Mallory Trophy which will be held here in May 2016.

Hiring for Summer 2016

It's the most wonderful time of the year...SUMMER!  We're hiring a Head Instructor along with several Sailing Instructors to oversee our 8 week summer sailing program.  Are you ready to join our team?  Registration for summer sailing will open February 1, 2016.  Apply today.

In NEED of Engines & Boats:

Got a 16-22 ft. boat sitting in your yard that your not using? Please consider donating your boat or working engine which is easy, philanthropic and offers potential tax advantages. In return for the donation of your vessel, we will issue a receipt and you can relax knowing that we will use the boat or the proceeds of the sale - to make it possible for all to get on the water.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We need your HELP!  Volunteers can help with everything from boat maintenance, regattas (on or off the water), outreach programs, office/admin work, STEM Education, special events and special and more.  If any of this sounds interesting or is something you are passionate about—we hope you will consider volunteering with us.  Sign up to volunteer online
