WELCOME and thank you for signing up to receive my quarterly newsletter, which includes new quilts, ideas and my updated teaching calendar for 2017-2018.
In keeping with the 4th of July celebrations this week, I worked on some patriotic waves for my new book “Wiggles & Waves.”
The book is all about curves….topstitched curves that is, which are so very easy and fun to make. If all goes according to plan "Wiggles & Waves" will be available in November 2017.
WHAT’S NEW?
A Village for all Seasons (2017) 45” x 61”
Do you remember seeing the step by step photos of this Happy Village quilt in the Winter 2017 newsletter? Well, it is finished now. I had a lot of fun gradating the seasons into each other and changing the trees to reflect the time of year.
Here’s a close-up of my first ever tire swing in a Happy Village!

Inspirational Designs on a recent trip to Germany & Italy
We had a wonderful vacation with family and friends in Germany and Italy in June. As usual my eyes concentrated on designs in architecture. Spirals always catch my attention.
Look closely to see the spiral type circle pattern in the old glass windows (Regensburg, Germany).
The “BASTE-MENT”
I am working (or rather “playing”) so fast and furious on projects for the new book, that I don’t have room in my studio for all of the quilts that need basting, SO…..the basement has now officially become the BASTE-MENT!
Here’s a chance for you to see some of the small quilts in the new book.
There’s “Just Ducky,” which features scalloped waves, and “Bright Animals,” which features Laurel Burch animals in Large Layered Logs and in the back is “Lots of Leaves,” which of course features my new Layered Leaves!
To speed up the safety pin basting process and to be kind to my fingers, I have been using my favorite gadget: “Kwik Klip”™ by Paula Jean Creations.
Many of you have been using this tool for years. If this is new to you, get one! Your fingers will thank you for the ease of snapping and unsnapping the safety pins AND it costs under $10, available at stores and online.
My most recent workshop was nearby in Connecticut with the Clamshell Quilt Guild. As you can see we made Random Roses. I loved the leaf-art backdrop for our flowers and group photo – perfect!
If you are interested in attending one of these workshops, please contact the guild or organization to get prices and registration information. If you need help contacting one of the venues, just let me know and I would be happy to give you the name of my contact person.
